It's telling that UK media hasn't highlighted the Iranian frigate being unarmed, despite it being widely reported across Asia (lots of talk in Thailand). There's also been little scrutiny of whether adequate assistance was provided to sailors in the water. Touting the sinking of an unarmed vessel as a victory, exposes the cowardice of those celebrating it. Hegseth and his ilk. Let's hope he eventually faces a tribunal in The Hague for war crimes

"Music should be a uniting force, not a tool to be weaponised for political ends." Idiotic comment. Calling a genocide "political" is not only wrong, it's a deliberate attempt to downplay human suffering.

Good on Israel, Spain, the Netherlands and Slovenia, and shame on the BBC. I have zero interest in Eurovision, but maybe it's time to start thinking about stopping paying the licence fee – we don't watch a huge amount of live TV anyway, so it wouldn't be hard to stop watching altogether...

Instead of hand-wringing over Birmingham's SAG not allowing Tel Aviv fans to attend the Europa League fixture, how about: don't allow Israeli teams to play at all? Are we white-washing the genocide away, just because there's a cease fire? Israel should only be allowed to re-join international sporting when netanyahu, his psychotic regime, and probably a fair percentage of the idf are lined up on trial in front of the ICC (lower-casing intentional. none of them deserve capitalisation).

"(Yvette Cooper) defended the banning of Palestine Action, which she said was based on 'strong security advice following serious attacks the group has committed' as well as 'plans and ideas for further attacks, the details of which cannot yet be publicly reported due to ongoing legal proceedings'."

Well, based on evidence so far, it looks like authoritarianism and smells like authoritarianism. And considering the number of times the security services have gotten things wrong over the years, I'm somewhat doubtful there's any information that can't be reported at a high level, where it would actually effect legal proceedings. Investigations in progress, maybe. But legal proceedings...? It just sounds like excuses for extreme government overreach. Let's see when these details are published... assuming they ever are.
