| | 04:18 pm - thinkin3d - applet question Hello, first-time poster, long-time human being. The project I'm on requires a client-side control that, embedded inside a web browser, calls a phone dialer and passes in a phone number as an argument. Is there a function that I can use in a java applet that interfaces with the command line? Are there any other ways to pass control to an outside program and collect the return information? It would be nice to, you know, know when the user is off the phone so our system can act accordingly. Thanks.Kyle | | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ |

04:54 pm - ilja_l - Java GUI develoment I was looking for a way to optimize the GUI development. I use Eclipse as IDE and it has a SWT support, which, as they say is not too portable. Now I wonder if anyone could suggest some other things. I've heard of XML based GUIs bt haven't tried that myself. So basically, I'm very open to any kind of suggestions.
05:04 pm - banana The results of the recent poll seem inconclusive on the first question, but quite clear on the second. So, I've update the community info page accordingly.I noticed a few other things there that needed changing, and I'd welcome any other suggestions.
