I am thrilled to be recognised as one of 12 women for contributions to Scottish Culture. It is an honour, I absolutely love working as a performer, writer and tutor within and being part of many aspects of Scotland's musical culture. I am proud of my musical roots as a Shetlander and I hope to inspire others to pursue their love of music.
Working Hands is Jenna's most accomplished album to date.
Working Hands presents Jenna Reid’s most mature and accomplished music to date. Featuring the ultra-classy McFall’s Chamber, it brings together the poised expression of her playing with fiddle quartet Rant and the touch, tone, gorgeous blue notes, conspiratorial feints and sheer exuberance that have long been the hallmark of Jenna’s truly inspired partnership with pianist Harris Playfair.
Featuring predominantly original compositions, the album grew out of lessons Jenna took with Robert McFall. Already extremely proficient and expressive, Reid wanted to work on her technique and hone her sound and delivery, and from working on these finer points with McFall she decided to make a recording that was different to her previous albums such as With Silver and All and Morning Moon.

Reviews
Live In Shetland: With three solo albums under her own name to her credit, plus her work with Blazin’ Fiddles and RANT Shetland fiddler Jenna Reid here passes admirable panache the litmus test of a recorded live performance, on home ground accompanied successfully by three long term associates, sister Bethany and Harris Playfair on pianos and guitarist Kevin Mackenzie.

Live In Shetland: Reid’s tone throughout is honeyed drawing out the sweetness and melancholy of tunes such as ‘Lorna’ with lingering tones. Accompanied by guitar, up tempo tunes such as ‘Laxo Burn’ race with energy, as do the set of three jigs beginning with ‘How must we Abstain from Whisky’, where Reid’s deftness is perhaps most audible. (...) This one is as close to the performers as its possible to be.

Live In Shetland: Fiddler Jenna Reid plays a home fixture at Shetland’s recently opened showcase venue, Mareel, on this, her fourth solo album. As a working musician, Reid’s superb musicality and absolute command of melody have been heard in groups including Blazin’ Fiddles and Deaf Shepherd, and she’s also one quarter of the marvellous chamber fiddle group Rant.
