| Hi everyone, I have a situation that's troubling me greatly. I was accepted for an interview with JET but my husband was rejected. If I make it through and get accepted to JET, I know my husband can come with me on a spousal visa, but how easy/realistic would it be for him to find work? He doesn't speak any Japanese. Is anyone in a similar situation? What did you do/what do you plan to do?I know it's very early in the selection process, but of course I'd like to get this straightened out as early as possible to avoid any problems later on. However, I dun wanna go home, so I'm in the process of finding work/an apartment in Kanto.For moving, I don't have a lot of stuff...like one small piece of furniture, probably several big suitcases and a couple boxes of things and that's it, so if possible I want to find a relatively cheap (but good) way to ship my things to my new place (I looked over at ExpatsJapan and found some stuff on this, but I wanted to ask in here and get some recent opinions as well).I saw something about using Yamato to move minimal stuff... anyone ever use that? What kind of personal questions do they ask?ThanksTags:interview Hi all,It has been years since I've written a post on here--hisashiburi!I have suffered from migraines since age 5, and they peaked during college. During my first year on JET (started 8/2007), they were under control. Maybe it was because my job was fulfilling, or the seasonal changes didn't seem so horrendous--who knows why. Anyway, for the past few weeks, I have been getting horrendous migraines randomly. Nothing in my dietary way of life has changed. I have lost a little weight, but not too quickly. I exercise more regularly, and until a migraine hits, I feel tons better. My sleeping patterns haven't changed, either. I have been stressed with family stuff back home, but no more than usual. School is nuts, but nothing that I haven't become accustomed to over the past four years. Maybe it's the drastic temp change, but it is so hard to pinpoint.Most of my Japanese friends are sympathetic, like "ah, a headache--itai ne! Odaiji ni." But it goes above and beyond that, with the vomiting, flashing light aura, dizziness, loss of all depth perception, ringing in the ears, and general inability to walk, talk, bathe--to LIVE. My doctor here is very kind, and the he has been able to prescribe me Relpax, which works--sometimes. He is a bit at a loss for what to do when the Relpax doesn't work, since I have taken all the others before (and have become immune to them--no help).I am wondering what kind of experiences other migraineurs have had in Japan. How did you (do you) cope? Did you consider looking for a specialist, or perhaps actually find a specialist? I know there's one on Okinawa, and I think there's one in Tokyo, but if there are any more that may be closer to where I live, it would be nice to know. I just found out I'm short listed to Japan (yay ^^), I don't know where I will be placed yet but I was wondering how is the current situation in Japan? The media can exaggerate but is what they say it to be true (ie: radiation in water&food, bottle water sold out etc)? I've wanted this job for years but now my parents and friends are paranoid and don't want me to go.
