in Da’an City, Jilin Province
From July to October 2015, Jilin University Research Center for Chinese Frontier Archaeology and Jilin Provincial Cultural Relics and Archaeology Research Institute carried out the second excavation season at the Yinjiawopu Site in Da’an city. This excavation area is located south of the 2014 excavation, on a large higher ground, and was divided into an estern zone and an eastern zone. The explored surface of 600 m² revealed a large quantity of Liao-Jin period remains. Over 100 features have been excavated, including 2 house-foundations, 4 hearths, 93 pits, and 2 ditches. Over 800 pieces of artifacts have been discovered, including ceramics, porcelains, iron, stone, glass, bronze, and bone implements. Compared to the western excavation zone which showed rare and quite simple features, the complexity and abundance of the features of the east excavation zone suggest that it corresponds to the western edge of an important Liao-Jin settlement.

Kinematic (RTK) topographical survey on the AD 10th to 13th century Kujindui site in
Northeast China. The examination of previous documentation and satellite photographs shows
the lack of precision on the knowledge of this medieval site. The RTK measurement provided
data to draw a topographical contour map and a 3D digital model that reveal the outline of the
enclosure wall. It allows defensive architectural features to be reconstructed. The precisely
geolocated plan provides the basis for future research and preservation.

In 2010 and 2013,the Jilin Province Archaeological Institute carried two planned excavations and discovered a large quantity of Ming period remains. The discovery of these data is very important for the research on Haixi Jurchen during the Ming dynasty and for the Ming dynasty history and archaeology of Northeast China. According to the discoveries of these two fieldwork seasons, the research not only deepens our understanding of the Huifacheng site, but the post-excavation work also raises new research questions on this walled city and the Haixi Jurchen.

Discovered in the 1950’s, its surface was estimated at 200,000m² and the site was dated the Bronze Age. Excavation in the 1970's and 2000's allowed the archaeologists to divide the site into two phases: Hanshu phase I (corresponding to the Baijinbao culture 白金宝文化), and the culture of Hanshu phase II (corresponding to the Warring States and Han periods).
On the basis of the data provided by the systematic regional survey on the Hanshu site, this article establishes the artifacts’ periodization, analyzes their distribution and concentration in order to get a deeper understanding of the chronology of the site and of the evolution of the settlement pattern of each period of occupation. For this case-study, the authors chose the Hanshu site for its rich cultural content, and it also can be viewed as an attempt to analyze the development process of the settlement in the Nen River valley and the complex relations between ancient people and their environment.
