The study aimed to identify the factors influencing Jordanian journalists’ practice of investigat... more The study aimed to identify the factors influencing Jordanian journalists’ practice of investigative journalism, relying on the media survey approach, by conducting a field survey on an available sample of (240) male and female journalists practicing journalism in press and media institutions in Jordan, by relying on the hierarchical model of influences. The results of the study showed that (63.7%) of Jordanian journalists did not practice investigative journalism in their journalistic work, while the most prominent reasons for not practicing investigative journalism were: lack of interest in investigative journalism (26.9%), lack of freedom in investigative journalism (19.6%), and low level of experience sufficient to practice investigative work. The results showed that professional principles were the most prominent factors influencing Jordanian journalists’ practice of investigative journalism (4.34), then laws and legislation regulating journalistic work (4.09), then social values ​​(4.06), then political pressures (3.95), then economic policy (3.84), and finally security pressures (3.58). The results concluded that it is necessary to pay attention to investigative journalism in press and media institutions in Jordan, provide the necessary financial support for it, prevent the authorities from interfering in the course of investigative investigations, and review the media laws and legislation in Jordan in order to practice investigative journalism freely.

The study aimed at identifying the degree of dependence of the Jordanian community in the Arab Re... more The study aimed at identifying the degree of dependence of the Jordanian community in the Arab Republic of Egypt on satellite channels as a source of information about events and issues in Jordan, in order to reveal the cognitive, emotional and behavioral effects. Methods: The study adopted the media audience survey method. A questionnaire was distributed to an available sample of (377) individuals, selected based on the formula of the American Association for Education, for sheding light on the degree of their dependence on Jordanian satellite channels, and the cognitive, emotional and behavioral effects of this dependence. Results: The results showed that (%41) of the respondents depend, to a moderate degree, on the Jordanian satellite channels. Al-Mamlaka channel came at the forefront of those channels. As for the cognitive effects, its means was (3.62); being at the forefront of the effects of the respondents' dependence on the Jordanian satellite channels, followed by the emotional effects (3.56), then the behavioral effects (3.54). Conclusions: Jordanian satellite channels should pay attention to all events and issues in Jordan, and highlight it through analysis and interpretation. This prompts the respondents to depend on these channels, as a source of information about local affairs.

The article aimed to identify the social responsibility dimensions of political talk shows in dea... more The article aimed to identify the social responsibility dimensions of political talk shows in dealing with the parliamentary performance of the 19th House of Representatives of Jordan. It adopted the content analysis methodology and applied it to the "Kingdom Voice" (Sawt Al-Mamlaka) program. Thirty-one episodes have been analyzed, of which they dealt with the parliamentary functioning of the House of Representatives during its second ordinary session, which began on 13 November 2022 and ended on 7 May 2023. The results of the study showed that the (Sawt Al-Mamlaka) program was committed to all dimensions of social, moral, and professional responsibility the dealing with parliamentary performance but was more committed to the media performance dimension (ethical standards), with a mean of (2.80), then the roles and functions of social responsibility with a mean of (2.76), then the professional standards with a mean of (2.55). The study concluded that talk shows should uphold the principle of serving the public and society, raising the level of freedom of opinion and expression, ensuring that talk shows serve as a platform for thought and criticism within their social responsibility, their role as constructive and positive critics in society, and their oversight function in expressing public opinion.

سعت هذه الدراسة إلى التعرف إلى التأطير الإعلامي للقضايا البيئية في الصُحف الرقمية الأردنية، واعتم... more سعت هذه الدراسة إلى التعرف إلى التأطير الإعلامي للقضايا البيئية في الصُحف الرقمية الأردنية، واعتمدت الدراسة على منهج المسح الإعلامي، عبر تحليل مضمون 335 ( مادة صحفية منشورة في الصُحف الرقمية الأردنية )الغد، الدستور، الرأي(، خلال ( الفترة الزمنية من 1 كانون الثاني 2022 حتى 30 حزيران 2022 ، من خلال الاعتماد على أسلوب العينة متعددة المراحل، وأظهرت نتائج الدراسة اهتمام الصُحف الرقمية الأردنية الثلاث -عينة الدراسة- بمعالجة قضايا البيئة، حيث جاءت صحيفة "الغد" في الترتيب الأول ) 40 %(، ثم صحيفة "الدستور" في الترتيب الثاني ) 31 %(، بينما جاءت صحيفة "الرأي" في الترتيب الثالث ) 29 %(، إلى جانب تنوع المصادر في المعالجة الصحفية للقضايا البيئية من مسؤولين ) 29 %(، ووكالات أنباء ) 18.5 %(، وكتاب صحفيون %12.8 (، وتمثلت أبرز القضايا والموضوعات البيئية التي عالجتها الصُحف في: التغير ( المناخي ) 23.1 %(، وموارد المياه ) 17.3 %(، والأمن الغذائي ) 14.1 %(، و أكدت النتائج أن المعالجة الصحفية للمواقع اتسمت بمواجهة التحديات المتعلقة بمشكلات البيئة 33.7% (، والدعوة للتخفيف من المشكلات البيئية ) 16.1 %(، والتحليل والتفسير ( والشرح لقضايا البيئة ) 13.4 %(، وخلصت النتائج إلى أنّ الصُحف الرقمية الأردنية قامت بتأطير القضايا البيئية ضمن إطار "الاستراتيجية" أولاً ) 25.7 %(، ثم إطار "المسؤولية" ثانيًا ) 23 %(، ثم إطار "الاهتمامات الإنسانية" ثالثاً ) 16.4 %(، من خلال وضع القضايا البيئية في هذه الأطر الثلاثة من أجل إبرازها وإعطائها معنى، والتأثير في مدركات القراء؛ ومن ثم جعل الجمهور يُفسر هذه القضايا ضمن الأطر التي أبرزتها تلك الصحف؛ فاعتمدت الصُ حف على إطار الاستراتيجية من أجل إقناع القارئ بالخطط والاستراتيجيات التي تنتهجها الحكومة في سبيل مواجهة مخاطر التغيرات البيئية، ومن ثم مسؤوليتها، ومسؤولية ا لأفراد للحد من تأثيرات القضايا البيئية على الأردن، وبعد ذلك تأتي الاهتمامات الإنسانية من خلال إشراك الفئات كافة، ودمجها، مثل: المرأة، والشباب، والمجتمعات المحلية، لتنفيذ السياسات الوطنية في التعامل مع التحديات البيئية؛ و ضمان التنمية المستدامة.

This study investigated media framing of environmental issues in Jordanian digital newspapers. Th... more This study investigated media framing of environmental issues in Jordanian digital newspapers. The study employed a media survey approach with content analysis of 335 journalistic articles published on the websites of three major Jordanian newspapers (Al-Ghad, Al-Dustour, Al-Rai) from January 1, 2022, to June 30, 2022. Multi-stage sampling ensured representativeness. Results showed all three Jordanian digital newspapers addressed environmental issues, with Al-Ghad leading (40%), followed by Al-Dustour (31%) and Al-Rai (29%). The study found a diversity of sources in journalistic treatment (officials: 29%, news agencies: 18.5%, journalists: 12.8%). Climate change (23.1%), water resources (17.3%), and food security (14.1%) were the most prominent environmental topics. Journalistic treatment focused on confronting environmental challenges (33.7%), followed by calls for alleviation (16.1%) and analysis, interpretation (13.4%). The study concluded that Jordanian digital newspapers framed environmental issues within three primary frameworks: "strategy" (25.7%), "responsibility" (23%), and "human concerns" (16.4%). These frames serve to highlight issues, provide meaning, and influence reader perception. Jordanian digital newspapers used the "strategy" frame to promote government plans for addressing environmental risks. The "responsibility" frame emphasized the shared responsibility of individuals and the government. Finally, the "human concerns" frame highlighted the importance of public participation (women, youth, local communities) in implementing national environmental policies for sustainable development.

Every now and then, the name of the Netflix platform enters a state of controversy in the Arab wo... more Every now and then, the name of the Netflix platform enters a state of controversy in the Arab world for considerations connected to national, political, or ideological sensitivities. One of those occasions was related to Netflix's streaming of a series called The Spy. In this research, the content of the six episodes analyzed for the purpose of examining the framing and stereotyping of the character of the Arab through the Netflix platform. The figures that resulted from the content analysis indicate a high percentage of stereotyping of the Arab in the series The Spy, regardless of religion, being Muslim, Jewish, or Christian. The highest percentage of stereotyping was for the Muslim Arab, followed by the Jewish Arab, with the lowest percentage for the Christian Arab.

A media survey methodology has been adopted to achieve the article's aim, using content analysis of 335 Journalism articles published on the websites Al-Ghad, Addustour, and Al-Rai. The results showed that the three digital Jordanian daily newspapers were interested in covering the issue of climate change and relied mainly on "reports" to provide information about the issue. Furthermore, it relied on persuasive methods to convince the reader of climate change and its adverse societal effects and raise environmental awareness to ensure sustainable development. The results also revealed that digital Jordanian daily newspapers framed the issue of climate change within the framing of the strategy, responsibility, and human interests. Finally, the results concluded that the digital Jordanian daily newspapers should avoid framing climate change within an episodic frame, as this process shapes and changes the public's interpretations and priorities towards climate issues.

The results showed that the degree of students' commitment to attendance during the field training period in media institutions came to a "huge" degree, at a rate of (39.8%), while the degree of their benefit from field training came to a "medium" degree, at a rate of (29.2%). In: "Journalism Editing," Preparation of Radio and Television Programs," and "The Art of Speaking and Presentation." training" with an arithmetic mean of (4.27) and a high degree. In contrast, the effectiveness of the field training was represented in qualifying students for the labor market by: "recognizing the mechanism of work of the media institution," "acquiring new relationships in the labor market." and "Identifying the problems of workers in media institutions.

سعت الدراسة التعرف إلى معدل مصداقية القنوات التلفزيونية الأردنية الحكومية والخاصة ودرجة التزامها ... more سعت الدراسة التعرف إلى معدل مصداقية القنوات التلفزيونية الأردنية الحكومية والخاصة ودرجة التزامها بمعايير المصداقية أثناء أزمة فيروس كورونا (كوفيد- 19)، والكشف عن درجة التغيُّر في معدل مصداقية تلك القنوات وطبيعته قبل الأزمة وأثناءها، واعتمدت الدراسة على منهج مسح جمهور وسائل الإعلام كمنهج بحث، والاستبانة كأداة لجمع البيانات، وتمثلت عينة الدراسة في الأردنيين جميعهم ممن تبلغ أعمارهم (18 سنة فأكثر)، حيث اختيرت عينة حصصية متساوية قوامها (420) مفردة، مقسّمة بالتساوي على أقاليم الأردن الثلاثة: (الشمال، الوسط، الجنوب)، وخلصت نتائج الدراسة إلى أنّ أبرز معايير المصداقية التي تلتزم بها القنوات التلفزيونية الأردنية الحكومية والخاصة: معيار "الاعتماد على إعلاميين لديهم خبرة وكفاءة عالية"، ومعيار "العمل من أجل المصلحة العامة"، ومعيار "الارتكاز على مبادئ مهنية وأخلاقية"، وتصدّرت قناة المملكة الحكومية قائمة القنوات التلفزيونية الأردنية الأعلى مصداقية لدى المبحوثين، بينما جاءت قناة رؤيا أكثر القنوات التلفزيونية الأردنية تغيرًا في معدل المصداقية خلال أزمة فيروس كورونا.

هدفت الدراسة التعرف إلى دور المساقات العملية في كلية الإعلام بجامعة الشرق الأوسط في إكساب خريجيها... more هدفت الدراسة التعرف إلى دور المساقات العملية في كلية الإعلام بجامعة الشرق الأوسط في إكساب خريجيها مهارات سوق العمل الإعلامي، واستندت الدراسة إلى منهج مسح جمهور وسائل الإعلام، بالتطبيق على عينة عمدية قوامها (48) مفردة من خريجي كلية الإعلام بجامعة الشرق الأوسط الممارسين للعمل الإعلامي في المؤسسات الإعلامية، وأظهرت نتائج الدراسة أن إسهام المساقات الدراسية العملية في إكساب الخريجين للمواصفات المطلوبة في سوق العمل جاء بدرجة مرتفعة، حيث تمثلت أهم هذه المواصفات في "المظهر اللائق والمقبول" بوسط حسابي (2.69)، و"قوة الشخصية" بوسط حسابي (2.58)، بينما جاء إسهام المساقات الدراسية العملية في إكساب الخريجين للمهارات المهنية المطلوبة في ممارسة العمل الإعلامي بدرجة مرتفعة، حيث تمثلت أهم هذه المهارات في "القدرة على جمع البيانات والمعلومات من مصادرها المختلفة بسهولة" بوسط حسابي (2.54)، و"إتقان اللغة العربية" و"الدقة والموضوعية في التناول الإعلامي" بوسط حسابي (2.46) لكل منهما، وخلصت الدراسة إلى ضرورة إعادة النظر في المقررات الدراسية العملية في كليات الإعلام، بحيث تساهم في توعية الطلبة وتوجيههم بحاجات السوق الإعلامي الجديد ومتطلباته في العصر الرقمي.

هدفت الدراسة التعرف إلى انعكاسات التأهيل الأكاديمي الإعلامي على الممارسة المهنية، واستندت الدراسة... more هدفت الدراسة التعرف إلى انعكاسات التأهيل الأكاديمي الإعلامي على الممارسة المهنية، واستندت الدراسة إلَى منهج المسح الإعلامي، بالتطبيق على عينة متاحة قوامها (102) مفردة من الإعلاميين الممارسين للعمل الإعلامي في المؤسسات الإعلامية الأردنية ممن يحملون شهادة الإعلام، وأظهرت نتائج الدراسة أنّ واقع التأهيل الأكاديمي للإعلاميين قد تمثل في: "غلبة الجوانب النظرية على الجوانب التطبيقية في المقررات الدراسية" بوسط حسابي بلغ (4.30)، بينما تمثل واقع التأهيل والتدريب المهني العملي للإعلاميين الممارسين للمهنة في المؤسسات الإعلامية الأردنية في: "انعكاس التدريب الإعلامي على الأداء المهني للإعلاميين" بوسط حسابي بلغ (4.01)، وجاءت أبرز انعكاسات التأهيل الأكاديمي على الممارسة المهنة للإعلاميين الممارسين للمهنة في المؤسسات الإعلامية في أنّ: "التأهيل الأكاديمي من خلال المقررات الدراسية العملية/ التدريبية مهم في تنمية المهارات وممارسة العمل الإعلامي" بوسط حسابي (4.10)، وخلصت نتائج الدراسة إلى أنّ كليات الإعلام باتت أمام حتمية تطوير مناهجها ومقرراتها الدراسية؛ لتواكب متطلبات سوق العمل الإعلامي واحتياجاته، من خلال التركيز على الجوانب التطبيقية أكثر من الجوانب النظرية، وإشراك المهنيين الممارسين للعمل الإعلامي في العملية التدريسية، إلى جانب التنسيق بين كليات الإعلام والمؤسسات الإعلامية؛ بهدف تقييم واقع سوق العمل الإعلامي، ومخرجات كليات الإعلام، والخروج بمقترحات تُساهم في تحسين التأهيل الأكاديمي في كليات الإعلام.

The article aimed to identify the level of "mobile journalism" skills that fiel... more The article aimed to identify the level of "mobile journalism" skills that field reporters in Jordanian TV channels have. It adopted the survey methodology and applied it to an available sample of (56) reporters. The results showed that self-skills (most important are journalistic sense and observation skills and skills of adapting to smartphones) came first. Professional skills (most important are the skills of communicating with sources, and the skills of transmitting, publishing, and distributing media materials) came second. While technical skills (such as the skill of searching for and verifying information, images and videos, and skills of protecting and securing information) came in the third and final order, being the least of the skills for field reporters. The results also revealed that the most important ethical standards for mobile journalism for reporters are avoiding fabricating journalistic stories, respecting religions, and preserving the confidentiality of sources. Finally, the results concluded that there is a correlation between mobile journalism skills and commitment to ethical standards in the production of media content via mobile.

The study adopted the audience survey method. A questionnaire was distributed to an available sample of (102) professionals in Jordanian media institutions who hold a media certificate. The study's results showed that the primary academic education of media professionals was represented in: "the predominance of theoretical aspects over practical aspects in academic courses," with a mean of (4.30). In contrast, the media skills and practical professional training of professionals in Jordan's media institutions were represented in: "the reflection of media training on the professional performance of journalists" with a mean of (4.01). Concerning the most important reflections of academic education on the professional practice of media professionals were: "Academic training through practical/training courses is important in developing skills and professional practice," with a mean of (4.10). The study concluded that the Faculties of media are now confronted with the imperative of developing their curricula and plans to keep pace with the demands and needs of the media labor market by focusing on the practical aspects rather than the theoretical aspects, involving media professionals in the teaching process, as well as coordinating between media faculties and media institutions to assess the reality of the media labor market and the outputs of the media colleges and develop proposals that contribute to improving academic qualification in the media colleges.

The study adopted the media audience survey method. A questionnaire was distributed to an available sample of (48) graduates of the Faculty of Media at Middle East University who practice the media profession. The results showed that practical study courses' contribution to providing graduates with the required specifications in the labor market came to a high degree, as the most important of these specifications was: "decent and acceptable appearance," with a mean of (2.69), and "personal strength" with a mean of (2.58). In contrast, the practical study courses' contribution to providing graduates with the required professional skills in media professionalism was of a high degree, as the most important of these skills was: "the ability to collect data, information from different sources easily" with a mean of (2.54), and "Proficiency in the Arabic language" and "Accuracy, objectivity in media" with a mean of (2.46) for each. The study concluded that it is necessary to reconsider the practical curricula in media faculties to contribute to educating and guiding students in terms of the needs and requirements of the media market in the digital age.

The study aimed to identify the levels of credibility of the Jordanian government and private tel... more The study aimed to identify the levels of credibility of the Jordanian government and private television channels, and their degrees of commitment to the criteria of credibility, during the Coronavirus (COVID-19) crisis. It also aimed to reveal the degrees and types of changes in the credibility ratings of these channels before and during the crisis. The study relied on surveying the media audience as a research method and used a questionnaire as a data collection tool. The study sample represented a cross-section of all Jordanians 18 years or older; a quota sample of 420 respondents was selected, divided equally among the three regions of Jordan (North, Central, and South). The study results showed that the most important credibility criteria the Jordanian government and private television channels adhered to were ‘depending on media professionals with experience and high competence,’ ‘working for the public good,’ and ‘relying on professional and ethical principles.’ The government channel AlMamlaka topped the Jordanian television channels with the highest credibility among respondents. Roya Channel was shown to be the Jordanian television channel with the highest change in credibility ratings during the Coronavirus crisis.

The article aims to explore the ideology of Jordanian politician's discourse in the talk shows, b... more The article aims to explore the ideology of Jordanian politician's discourse in the talk shows, based on Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA) in its ideological aspect, and by applying Van Dijk ideological square. The population has been the program "Friendly Fire" (NiranSadeeqah) that is broadcast on Amman TV. Seven episodes have been analyzed (of which, their airtime accumulated to (5 hrs. and 51 minutes) that hosted seven Jordanian prime ministers. The analysis categories have been determined based on Van Dijk ideological square; (Emphasizing positive things about Us, emphasizing negative things about Them, De-emphasize negative things about Us, De-emphasizing positive things about Them). The results concluded that the ideology of the Jordanian politician's discourse sought primarily to De-emphasize of the negativity related to the Jordanian politician (36.4%), with (2.07 hrs.) of the seven episodes. At the second rank, the Jordanian politician's discourse focused on emphasizingthe positivity of politician Jordanian (28.7%) with (1.52.30 hrs.). Thirdly, they sought to "Emphasize negative things about others" (19.7%) with (01:06:20 hrs.). Finally, they focused on "De-emphasizing positive things about others" (15.2%) with (0:45:30 hrs.).

The study aimed to identify the factors influencing Jordanian journalists’ practice of investigat... more The study aimed to identify the factors influencing Jordanian journalists’ practice of investigative journalism, relying on the media survey approach, by conducting a field survey on an available sample of (240) male and female journalists practicing journalism in press and media institutions in Jordan, by relying on the hierarchical model of influences. The results of the study showed that (63.7%) of Jordanian journalists did not practice investigative journalism in their journalistic work, while the most prominent reasons for not practicing investigative journalism were: lack of interest in investigative journalism (26.9%), lack of freedom in investigative journalism (19.6%), and low level of experience sufficient to practice investigative work. The results showed that professional principles were the most prominent factors influencing Jordanian journalists’ practice of investigative journalism (4.34), then laws and legislation regulating journalistic work (4.09), then social values ​​(4.06), then political pressures (3.95), then economic policy (3.84), and finally security pressures (3.58). The results concluded that it is necessary to pay attention to investigative journalism in press and media institutions in Jordan, provide the necessary financial support for it, prevent the authorities from interfering in the course of investigative investigations, and review the media laws and legislation in Jordan in order to practice investigative journalism freely.

The study aimed at identifying the degree of dependence of the Jordanian community in the Arab Re... more The study aimed at identifying the degree of dependence of the Jordanian community in the Arab Republic of Egypt on satellite channels as a source of information about events and issues in Jordan, in order to reveal the cognitive, emotional and behavioral effects. Methods: The study adopted the media audience survey method. A questionnaire was distributed to an available sample of (377) individuals, selected based on the formula of the American Association for Education, for sheding light on the degree of their dependence on Jordanian satellite channels, and the cognitive, emotional and behavioral effects of this dependence. Results: The results showed that (%41) of the respondents depend, to a moderate degree, on the Jordanian satellite channels. Al-Mamlaka channel came at the forefront of those channels. As for the cognitive effects, its means was (3.62); being at the forefront of the effects of the respondents' dependence on the Jordanian satellite channels, followed by the emotional effects (3.56), then the behavioral effects (3.54). Conclusions: Jordanian satellite channels should pay attention to all events and issues in Jordan, and highlight it through analysis and interpretation. This prompts the respondents to depend on these channels, as a source of information about local affairs.

It adopted the content analysis methodology and applied it to the "Kingdom Voice" (Sawt Al-Mamlaka) program. Thirty-one episodes have been analyzed, of which they dealt with the parliamentary functioning of the House of Representatives during its second ordinary session, which began on 13 November 2022 and ended on 7 May 2023. The results of the study showed that the (Sawt Al-Mamlaka) program was committed to all dimensions of social, moral, and professional responsibility the dealing with parliamentary performance but was more committed to the media performance dimension (ethical standards), with a mean of (2.80), then the roles and functions of social responsibility with a mean of (2.76), then the professional standards with a mean of (2.55). The study concluded that talk shows should uphold the principle of serving the public and society, raising the level of freedom of opinion and expression, ensuring that talk shows serve as a platform for thought and criticism within their social responsibility, their role as constructive and positive critics in society, and their oversight function in expressing public opinion.

سعت هذه الدراسة إلى التعرف إلى التأطير الإعلامي للقضايا البيئية في الصُحف الرقمية الأردنية، واعتم... more سعت هذه الدراسة إلى التعرف إلى التأطير الإعلامي للقضايا البيئية في الصُحف الرقمية الأردنية، واعتمدت الدراسة على منهج المسح الإعلامي، عبر تحليل مضمون 335 ( مادة صحفية منشورة في الصُحف الرقمية الأردنية )الغد، الدستور، الرأي(، خلال ( الفترة الزمنية من 1 كانون الثاني 2022 حتى 30 حزيران 2022 ، من خلال الاعتماد على أسلوب العينة متعددة المراحل، وأظهرت نتائج الدراسة اهتمام الصُحف الرقمية الأردنية الثلاث -عينة الدراسة- بمعالجة قضايا البيئة، حيث جاءت صحيفة "الغد" في الترتيب الأول ) 40 %(، ثم صحيفة "الدستور" في الترتيب الثاني ) 31 %(، بينما جاءت صحيفة "الرأي" في الترتيب الثالث ) 29 %(، إلى جانب تنوع المصادر في المعالجة الصحفية للقضايا البيئية من مسؤولين ) 29 %(، ووكالات أنباء ) 18.5 %(، وكتاب صحفيون %12.8 (، وتمثلت أبرز القضايا والموضوعات البيئية التي عالجتها الصُحف في: التغير ( المناخي ) 23.1 %(، وموارد المياه ) 17.3 %(، والأمن الغذائي ) 14.1 %(، و أكدت النتائج أن المعالجة الصحفية للمواقع اتسمت بمواجهة التحديات المتعلقة بمشكلات البيئة 33.7% (، والدعوة للتخفيف من المشكلات البيئية ) 16.1 %(، والتحليل والتفسير ( والشرح لقضايا البيئة ) 13.4 %(، وخلصت النتائج إلى أنّ الصُحف الرقمية الأردنية قامت بتأطير القضايا البيئية ضمن إطار "الاستراتيجية" أولاً ) 25.7 %(، ثم إطار "المسؤولية" ثانيًا ) 23 %(، ثم إطار "الاهتمامات الإنسانية" ثالثاً ) 16.4 %(، من خلال وضع القضايا البيئية في هذه الأطر الثلاثة من أجل إبرازها وإعطائها معنى، والتأثير في مدركات القراء؛ ومن ثم جعل الجمهور يُفسر هذه القضايا ضمن الأطر التي أبرزتها تلك الصحف؛ فاعتمدت الصُ حف على إطار الاستراتيجية من أجل إقناع القارئ بالخطط والاستراتيجيات التي تنتهجها الحكومة في سبيل مواجهة مخاطر التغيرات البيئية، ومن ثم مسؤوليتها، ومسؤولية ا لأفراد للحد من تأثيرات القضايا البيئية على الأردن، وبعد ذلك تأتي الاهتمامات الإنسانية من خلال إشراك الفئات كافة، ودمجها، مثل: المرأة، والشباب، والمجتمعات المحلية، لتنفيذ السياسات الوطنية في التعامل مع التحديات البيئية؛ و ضمان التنمية المستدامة.

Th... more This study investigated media framing of environmental issues in Jordanian digital newspapers. The study employed a media survey approach with content analysis of 335 journalistic articles published on the websites of three major Jordanian newspapers (Al-Ghad, Al-Dustour, Al-Rai) from January 1, 2022, to June 30, 2022. Multi-stage sampling ensured representativeness. Results showed all three Jordanian digital newspapers addressed environmental issues, with Al-Ghad leading (40%), followed by Al-Dustour (31%) and Al-Rai (29%). The study found a diversity of sources in journalistic treatment (officials: 29%, news agencies: 18.5%, journalists: 12.8%). Climate change (23.1%), water resources (17.3%), and food security (14.1%) were the most prominent environmental topics. Journalistic treatment focused on confronting environmental challenges (33.7%), followed by calls for alleviation (16.1%) and analysis, interpretation (13.4%). The study concluded that Jordanian digital newspapers framed environmental issues within three primary frameworks: "strategy" (25.7%), "responsibility" (23%), and "human concerns" (16.4%). These frames serve to highlight issues, provide meaning, and influence reader perception. Jordanian digital newspapers used the "strategy" frame to promote government plans for addressing environmental risks. The "responsibility" frame emphasized the shared responsibility of individuals and the government. Finally, the "human concerns" frame highlighted the importance of public participation (women, youth, local communities) in implementing national environmental policies for sustainable development.

One of those occasions was related to Netflix's streaming of a series called The Spy. In this research, the content of the six episodes analyzed for the purpose of examining the framing and stereotyping of the character of the Arab through the Netflix platform. The figures that resulted from the content analysis indicate a high percentage of stereotyping of the Arab in the series The Spy, regardless of religion, being Muslim, Jewish, or Christian. The highest percentage of stereotyping was for the Muslim Arab, followed by the Jewish Arab, with the lowest percentage for the Christian Arab.

A media survey methodology has been adopted to achieve the article's aim, using content analysis of 335 Journalism articles published on the websites Al-Ghad, Addustour, and Al-Rai. The results showed that the three digital Jordanian daily newspapers were interested in covering the issue of climate change and relied mainly on "reports" to provide information about the issue. Furthermore, it relied on persuasive methods to convince the reader of climate change and its adverse societal effects and raise environmental awareness to ensure sustainable development. The results also revealed that digital Jordanian daily newspapers framed the issue of climate change within the framing of the strategy, responsibility, and human interests. Finally, the results concluded that the digital Jordanian daily newspapers should avoid framing climate change within an episodic frame, as this process shapes and changes the public's interpretations and priorities towards climate issues.

هدفت الدراسة التعرف إلى دور المساقات العملية في كلية الإعلام بجامعة الشرق الأوسط في إكساب خريجيها... more هدفت الدراسة التعرف إلى دور المساقات العملية في كلية الإعلام بجامعة الشرق الأوسط في إكساب خريجيها مهارات سوق العمل الإعلامي، واستندت الدراسة إلى منهج مسح جمهور وسائل الإعلام، بالتطبيق على عينة عمدية قوامها (48) مفردة من خريجي كلية الإعلام بجامعة الشرق الأوسط الممارسين للعمل الإعلامي في المؤسسات الإعلامية، وأظهرت نتائج الدراسة أن إسهام المساقات الدراسية العملية في إكساب الخريجين للمواصفات المطلوبة في سوق العمل جاء بدرجة مرتفعة، حيث تمثلت أهم هذه المواصفات في "المظهر اللائق والمقبول" بوسط حسابي (2.69)، و"قوة الشخصية" بوسط حسابي (2.58)، بينما جاء إسهام المساقات الدراسية العملية في إكساب الخريجين للمهارات المهنية المطلوبة في ممارسة العمل الإعلامي بدرجة مرتفعة، حيث تمثلت أهم هذه المهارات في "القدرة على جمع البيانات والمعلومات من مصادرها المختلفة بسهولة" بوسط حسابي (2.54)، و"إتقان اللغة العربية" و"الدقة والموضوعية في التناول الإعلامي" بوسط حسابي (2.46) لكل منهما، وخلصت الدراسة إلى ضرورة إعادة النظر في المقررات الدراسية العملية في كليات الإعلام، بحيث تساهم في توعية الطلبة وتوجيههم بحاجات السوق الإعلامي الجديد ومتطلباته في العصر الرقمي.

هدفت الدراسة التعرف إلى انعكاسات التأهيل الأكاديمي الإعلامي على الممارسة المهنية، واستندت الدراسة... more هدفت الدراسة التعرف إلى انعكاسات التأهيل الأكاديمي الإعلامي على الممارسة المهنية، واستندت الدراسة إلَى منهج المسح الإعلامي، بالتطبيق على عينة متاحة قوامها (102) مفردة من الإعلاميين الممارسين للعمل الإعلامي في المؤسسات الإعلامية الأردنية ممن يحملون شهادة الإعلام، وأظهرت نتائج الدراسة أنّ واقع التأهيل الأكاديمي للإعلاميين قد تمثل في: "غلبة الجوانب النظرية على الجوانب التطبيقية في المقررات الدراسية" بوسط حسابي بلغ (4.30)، بينما تمثل واقع التأهيل والتدريب المهني العملي للإعلاميين الممارسين للمهنة في المؤسسات الإعلامية الأردنية في: "انعكاس التدريب الإعلامي على الأداء المهني للإعلاميين" بوسط حسابي بلغ (4.01)، وجاءت أبرز انعكاسات التأهيل الأكاديمي على الممارسة المهنة للإعلاميين الممارسين للمهنة في المؤسسات الإعلامية في أنّ: "التأهيل الأكاديمي من خلال المقررات الدراسية العملية/ التدريبية مهم في تنمية المهارات وممارسة العمل الإعلامي" بوسط حسابي (4.10)، وخلصت نتائج الدراسة إلى أنّ كليات الإعلام باتت أمام حتمية تطوير مناهجها ومقرراتها الدراسية؛ لتواكب متطلبات سوق العمل الإعلامي واحتياجاته، من خلال التركيز على الجوانب التطبيقية أكثر من الجوانب النظرية، وإشراك المهنيين الممارسين للعمل الإعلامي في العملية التدريسية، إلى جانب التنسيق بين كليات الإعلام والمؤسسات الإعلامية؛ بهدف تقييم واقع سوق العمل الإعلامي، ومخرجات كليات الإعلام، والخروج بمقترحات تُساهم في تحسين التأهيل الأكاديمي في كليات الإعلام.

It adopted the survey methodology and applied it to an available sample of (56) reporters. The results showed that self-skills (most important are journalistic sense and observation skills and skills of adapting to smartphones) came first. Professional skills (most important are the skills of communicating with sources, and the skills of transmitting, publishing, and distributing media materials) came second. While technical skills (such as the skill of searching for and verifying information, images and videos, and skills of protecting and securing information) came in the third and final order, being the least of the skills for field reporters. The results also revealed that the most important ethical standards for mobile journalism for reporters are avoiding fabricating journalistic stories, respecting religions, and preserving the confidentiality of sources. Finally, the results concluded that there is a correlation between mobile journalism skills and commitment to ethical standards in the production of media content via mobile.

The study adopted the audience survey method. A questionnaire was distributed to an available sample of (102) professionals in Jordanian media institutions who hold a media certificate. The study's results showed that the primary academic education of media professionals was represented in: "the predominance of theoretical aspects over practical aspects in academic courses," with a mean of (4.30). In contrast, the media skills and practical professional training of professionals in Jordan's media institutions were represented in: "the reflection of media training on the professional performance of journalists" with a mean of (4.01). Concerning the most important reflections of academic education on the professional practice of media professionals were: "Academic training through practical/training courses is important in developing skills and professional practice," with a mean of (4.10). The study concluded that the Faculties of media are now confronted with the imperative of developing their curricula and plans to keep pace with the demands and needs of the media labor market by focusing on the practical aspects rather than the theoretical aspects, involving media professionals in the teaching process, as well as coordinating between media faculties and media institutions to assess the reality of the media labor market and the outputs of the media colleges and develop proposals that contribute to improving academic qualification in the media colleges.

The study aimed at identifying the role of the practical courses at the Faculty of Media at the M... more The study aimed at identifying the role of the practical courses at the Faculty of Media at the Middle East University in providing its graduates with skills in the media labor market. The study adopted the media audience survey method. A questionnaire was distributed to an available sample of (48) graduates of the Faculty of Media at Middle East University who practice the media profession. The results showed that practical study courses' contribution to providing graduates with the required specifications in the labor market came to a high degree, as the most important of these specifications was: "decent and acceptable appearance," with a mean of (2.69), and "personal strength" with a mean of (2.58). In contrast, the practical study courses' contribution to providing graduates with the required professional skills in media professionalism was of a high degree, as the most important of these skills was: "the ability to collect data, information from different sources easily" with a mean of (2.54), and "Proficiency in the Arabic language" and "Accuracy, objectivity in media" with a mean of (2.46) for each. The study concluded that it is necessary to reconsider the practical curricula in media faculties to contribute to educating and guiding students in terms of the needs and requirements of the media market in the digital age.

The article aimed to identify the level of "mobile journalism" skills that field reporters in Jor... more The article aimed to identify the level of "mobile journalism" skills that field reporters in Jordanian TV channels have. It adopted the survey methodology and applied it to an available sample of (56) reporters. The results showed that self-skills (most important are journalistic sense and observation skills and skills of adapting to smartphones) came first. Professional skills (most important are the skills of communicating with sources, and the skills of transmitting, publishing, and distributing media materials) came second. While technical skills (such as the skill of searching for and verifying information, images and videos, and skills of protecting and securing information) came in the third and final order, being the least of the skills for field reporters. The results also revealed that the most important ethical standards for mobile journalism for reporters are avoiding fabricating journalistic stories, respecting religions, and preserving the confidentiality of sources. Finally, the results concluded that there is a correlation between mobile journalism skills and commitment to ethical standards in the production of media content via mobile.

The study aimed to identify the levels of credibility of the Jordanian government and private tel... more The study aimed to identify the levels of credibility of the Jordanian government and private television channels, and their degrees of commitment to the criteria of credibility, during the Coronavirus (COVID-19) crisis. It also aimed to reveal the degrees and types of changes in the credibility ratings of these channels before and during the crisis. The study relied on surveying the media audience as a research method and used a questionnaire as a data collection tool. The study sample represented a cross-section of all Jordanians 18 years or older; a quota sample of 420 respondents was selected, divided equally among the three regions of Jordan (North, Central, and South). The study results showed that the most important credibility criteria the Jordanian government and private television channels adhered to were ‘depending on media professionals with experience and high competence,’ ‘working for the public good,’ and ‘relying on professional and ethical principles.’ The government channel AlMamlaka topped the Jordanian television channels with the highest credibility among respondents. Roya Channel was shown to be the Jordanian television channel with the highest change in credibility ratings during the Coronavirus crisis.

The article aims to explore the ideology of Jordanian politician's discourse in the talk shows, b... more The article aims to explore the ideology of Jordanian politician's discourse in the talk shows, based on Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA) in its ideological aspect, and by applying Van Dijk ideological square. The population has been the program "Friendly Fire" (NiranSadeeqah) that is broadcast on Amman TV. Seven episodes have been analyzed (of which, their airtime accumulated to (5 hrs. and 51 minutes) that hosted seven Jordanian prime ministers. The analysis categories have been determined based on Van Dijk ideological square; (Emphasizing positive things about Us, emphasizing negative things about Them, De-emphasize negative things about Us, De-emphasizing positive things about Them). The results concluded that the ideology of the Jordanian politician's discourse sought primarily to De-emphasize of the negativity related to the Jordanian politician (36.4%), with (2.07 hrs.) of the seven episodes. At the second rank, the Jordanian politician's discourse focused on emphasizingthe positivity of politician Jordanian (28.7%) with (1.52.30 hrs.). Thirdly, they sought to "Emphasize negative things about others" (19.7%) with (01:06:20 hrs.). Finally, they focused on "De-emphasizing positive things about others" (15.2%) with (0:45:30 hrs.).
