About Adamah | Adamah | People. Planet. Purpose. (original) (raw)
We believe in the deep connection between people & planet, adam & adamah.
Every day, we help people feel that connection, spark Jewish inspiration, and help build a more sustainable future for all. And because we are the link between our ancestors and our descendants, our generation is called to respond to the existential crises of our time with the full power of the Jewish spirit.
Annual Impact
Adamah is leading a burgeoning movement across Jewish life. We are on track to reach nearly 50,000 annual participants at our two immersive campuses—Pearlstone and Isabella Freedman—and through national programs amplified in six community impact hubs in New York, Detroit, Baltimore, Atlanta, Los Angeles, and San Francisco.
Our Mission
We cultivate vibrant Jewish life in deep connection with the earth, catalyzing culture change and systemic change through immersive experiences, Jewish environmental education, leadership development, and climate action.
We are building the connective tissue for a new generation—linking youth movements, campus communities, retreat centers, and local hubs into one living ecosystem rooted in Jewish wisdom and driven by purpose.
Immersive Experiences
Retreats are powerful vehicles for building community, and they provide participants with diverse opportunities to tap into joyful Jewish life.
Adamah operates two Jewish retreat centers, Pearlstone (Adamah headquarters) in Maryland and Isabella Freedman in Connecticut. Both sites offer creative and inspirational Jewish outdoor, food, farming, and environmental education (JOFEE) programming for people of all ages.
We also collaborate with Jewish retreat centers around the country to offer Adamah retreats in different regions.
Jewish Environmental Education
Diverse education experiences for all ages are grounded in nature connection and Jewish wisdom, Adamah’s unique “Torah of the Earth” pedagogy.
Programs include Adamah Adventure Camp at Pearlstone, Teva for Jewish day school students at both retreat centers, and nature education for children and families through our Adamah hubs, often in partnership with Jewish Community Centers and synagogues.
Through innovative experiential Jewish learning, Adamah strengthens the connections between people and planet.
Leadership Development
Adamah is empowering a joyful, resilient generation of young Jewish leaders through a trajectory of leadership development opportunities.
The Jewish Youth Climate Movement (JYCM) and Adamah Campus Network are chapter-based programs that provide leadership training, Jewish learning, and community building for teens and college students.
Our flagship residential fellowship programs, the Adamah Jewish Farming Fellowship and the Teva Jewish Environmental Educator Training Program, provide a transformative immersive experience for Jewish young adults, many of whom have gone on to found and/or lead Jewish and environmental organizations.
Climate Action
The Jewish Climate Leadership Coalition (the Coalition) engages organizations across the Jewish world, including synagogues, day schools, Jewish Community Centers, summer camps, Federations, and Hillels.
The Coalition inspires and empowers climate action through learning sessions, resource guides, and communities of practice, and connects Coalition members to financial resources, including grant and loan funding through Adamah’s Climate Action Fund.
With Adamah’s support, Coalition members prepare annual Climate Action Plans that detail their progress over the prior year and set goals for the year ahead.
Vision and Values
Adamah’s vision is to change the nature of 21st century Jewish life through deep connection with the earth, transforming Jewish education and mobilizing collective action grounded in joy, love, and hope that inspires other faith communities and the world.
