dv8fest Ok so this is kinda my first post on LJ regarding DV8 next year in York, so let's make it a good'un

When is it?
15th July -18th July

Where is it?
York, to be more precise...The Duchess, Fibbers, Stereo and every other major venue in the city

What is it?
A goth festival with options

Options?
Yes and not the hot chocolate drink....mmmm hot chocolate....
Basically you get to spend time with your Goffik mates but dont necessarily have to listen to the music they like.
With 3 different gigs on each night you can choose the festival for you. The Duchess will be hosting our main stage playing some of the scenes best goth acts of the moment whilst Fibber will host our industrial events and Stereo , the post-punk , deathrock, rockabilly....

So there is something for everyone

OOOh what else do I get?

Well you get the following...Traders, Cheap entry to many of Yorks attractions to keep you busy during the day, The Beautiful and very friendly City of York and it's pubs...Burlesque dancers, sideshow performers, Tours of the City, a medieval feast, meet-ups, clubnights and general good times (General good times is not an army officer)

Who will be playing?
we are about to announce the first 5 bands....I love you being on tenterhooks.....

when can i get tickets?
Tickets should be available by February 1st from the website or the venues....

Anything else?
Yes...What a smashing blouse you are wearing today...

Besides that?
What else do you want? a Pony? pah well ok then I will get some more pretties for you...how about Zombie Cheerleaders? What else do you wish from me??????

Thank you and share with the world...keep an eye on www.dv8fest.com for and updated site in the coming weeks

thank you to you

Location recommendation A friend from outside York is looking for somewhere to live and has been asking about Moorgate in Acomb (YO24 4HR and thereabouts).

Can anyone tell me about what it's like to live round there? Is it OK for a family with youngish children?

Parking in York I have just moved to the Walmgate area and really need somewhere to park my car - can you help??

Ideally an R18 permit would be great, I can cover the costs and bung in some extra cash :-) Otherwise a space or garage would be good if not too expensive!

Support York Credit Union Hi just wanted to make sure you know the Credit Union has been going for just over a year and by using it you are keeping money in the local area. It is just for people who live, work or study in york and you can use it to save or borrow, even small bridging amounts, do support the credit union and open an account £1 to join and minium deposit is £1. Each year you get a dividend for your average amount of savings and loans are at a relativly low interest rate (1.5% a month 19.6%APR) with no fees to borrow for small amounts this compares favourably with overdrafts and certainly doorstep lenders like Provident who charge 177%apr...Do check out the website and If you save with them your money is loaned out to those in need in york area this is a win win deal and much more secure than Northern Rock!

BUNKER 13 - News Flash!!! The war is over!

It is with deep regret that I am writing this to say that as of today BUNKER 13 is over. After having problems with the venues management (again!) both I and dj D-Ject have decided to call it a day.

We both would like to thank all the people that have come down over the year or so we have been going. Without you lot we wouldn’t have lasted this long! We would also like to thank all the guest dj’s that have graced us with there presence and gave the opportunity for the people of York to hear some different stuff.

Thanks again to everyone who have supported us in different ways either working on the door, advertising for us or just giving us a great atmosphere at the nights we did.

As a sort of farewell bash both myself and D-Ject will be doing the Friday night at this Octobers ‘Alternative Whitby’ in Laughton’s night club. So please come down and enjoy what will be the last night of us dj’ing as BUNKER 13.

IMPORTANT - venue change for Darklands, York!!! An important message from DJ Batastrophe x posted (but it's important)

Darklands will no longer be held at the Cert 18!!

This was a last minute decision and we apologise for any inconvenience to anyone.

Darklands will still be going ahead on Saturday 9th June, now at a temporary venue THE JUDGES LODGINGS Cellar bar-function room. This ison Lendal in the centre of York.
Times are as normal 8pm - 2am and entry is the same £3.
Unfortunatley we have had to cancel Voices of Masada due to the lack of band PA at the venue, but they will be appearing sometime in the future. Instead we will be having a PIRATES THEME NIGHT with great prizes to win for best costumes!!

Full details and map of venue can be found on the Darklands website:
http://www.darklands.org.uk
( DirectionsCollapse )

All going well, Darklands should only be at this venue for June 9th
and July 7th before moving to the new permanent venue THE JUNCTION.
Please note that from July all the previously advertised dates may change.
Keep checking the website if in doubt.

Keep it Dark!

Batastrophe.

Last ever, best ever Hi, I'm looking for recommendations for places to go in York to get good food at reasonably prices, for as many different cuisines as people are willing to make suggestions for. I've been given a month in which to eat whatever I like, after which I'm likely to be on a strict, not-much-fun-at-all diet for the rest of my life, so I want to make the most of my month of unbridled dining. Will consider other nearby towns if there's something I just have to try that isn't available in York. This all kicks off on the Bank Holiday weekend, so I've still got a bit of time to gather suggestions and make bookings.
