- 𝗖𝗼𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗙𝗿𝗮𝗴𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗔𝗻𝗮𝗹𝘆𝘀𝗶𝘀 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗛𝗲𝗹𝗱 𝗶𝗻 𝗠𝗮𝗹𝗮𝘆𝘀𝗶𝗮🇲🇾 From October 21 to 22, 2024, JICA collaborated with the Japan Coast Guard (JCG), Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA), and National University of Malaysia (UKM) to conduct coating fragment analysis training. This technique helps identify vessels in hit-and-run maritime incidents by analyzing paint fragments. Following training held in February, three JCG experts guided practical sessions with five MMEA and two UKM staff members, using microscopes provided by JICA. The technique, highly valued by MMEA, supports securing criminal evidence. JICA will continue offering this essential training.
- 【Caregivers Trained at Hospice in South Africa🇿🇦】 As part of the “Project for Expanding Respite Care Services for Families of Children with Disabilities,” caregivers from Mpumalanga joined training at Iris House Children’s Hospice in Cape Town. The training, organized by South Africa’s National Department of Social Development (DSD) and JICA, covered caregiving techniques, assessments, and therapeutic activities. Caregivers are now eager to apply their new skills to improve care services at home.

OVD Director Mr. Charmarké Youssouf Moussa briefed the ambassador on the current situation of the garbage trucks provided by Japan, the progress of Mr. Miyagawa’s work, and the challenges OVD faces. Ambassador Hara reaffirmed the importance of Mr. Miyagawa’s contributions to Djibouti’s sanitation efforts.
- 🌏Calling for engagement at COP29 🌳 On November 13, Ms Miyazaki, Executive Senior Vice President and Chief Sustainability Officer (CSO) of JICA delivered a remarks at a seminar hosted by JICA at COP29, themed around climate-resilient development. In front of an audience including standing attendees, she emphasized the importance of creating synergies between climate change measures and other development challenges. During COP29, Ms Miyazaki also met with the Director-General of the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), the President of the Colombian Development Bank as well as the West African Development Bank among others exchange views on future collaboration.#COP29

The session was titled “𝘗𝘳𝘰𝘵𝘦𝘤𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘗𝘳𝘦𝘨𝘯𝘢𝘯𝘵 𝘞𝘰𝘮𝘦𝘯 𝘈𝘳𝘰𝘶𝘯𝘥 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘞𝘰𝘳𝘭𝘥 𝘣𝘺 𝘜𝘵𝘪𝘭𝘪𝘻𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘪𝘊𝘛𝘎 ( fetal monitoring device)𝘚𝘺𝘴𝘵𝘦𝘮 𝘋𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘭𝘰𝘱𝘦𝘥 𝘣𝘺 𝘒𝘢𝘨𝘢𝘸𝘢 𝘜𝘯𝘪𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘴𝘪𝘵𝘺”. Dr. Wada Kenji, Vice President of the Technical Kagawa University, began with an introduction to Kagawa University, setting the stage for collaborative learning. Dr. Tokuda Masaaki provided an overview of the innovative ongoing telemedicine with iCTG project in Bhutan. Ms. Sabitri Gurung, a lecturer from the FNPH, led a live demonstration on the use of the iCTG system, followed by Dr. Niita Emiko, OBGY specialist from Kagawa University, who guided students on interpreting cardiotocogram. The session concluded with the lecture of Pr. Sasaki Mutsuko from the Nursing Faculty of Kagawa University with an engaging session on pain management during childbirth. The students expressed enthusiasm and appreciation for the opportunity to learn from Japanese experts, and a lively exchange of knowledge took place between mission members, FNPHfaculty and students in a collaborative environment.

This is the second shipment of JICA’s project to enhance solid waste management in Juba, which includes a new workshop for maintenance and a total supply of 20 compactors, 5 dump trucks, and more. - In Baku, #Azerbaijan, #COP29 (The 29th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change) is being held. On November 12, Ms Miyazaki Katsura, Executive Senior Vice President and Chief Sustainability Officer of JICA, delivered closing remarks at a seminar themed 'Efforts to Realize a Sound Material-Cycle Society through Multi-Level Climate Action' attended by Ms Koike, Governor of the Tokyo Metropolitan Government, Ms Sharif, Mayor of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, among others.
