- "Our most notable investment this quarter was in OpenAI," CFO Yoshimitsu Goto shared, along with other key updates on SoftBank Group Corp.'s performance for the first half of FY2024 ending September 2024. At SoftBank World 2024 last month, SoftBank Group Corp. Chairman & CEO Masayoshi Son outlined his vision to achieve Artificial Super Intelligence (ASI) within 10 years—a goal designed to benefit all of humanity and fulfill our mission of creating a more connected, empowered, and joyful world. In line with this commitment, SoftBank Vision Fund 2 invested USD500 million in OpenAI, underscoring our dedication to a future powered by advanced #AI. Our Net Asset Value (NAV), our most important KPI, remains historically high. At the end of September, it was JPY29 trillion, reflecting a slight dip from June due to the yen's strength and a drop in Arm’s stock. However, recent rebounds have pushed our pro-forma NAV to approximately JPY32 trillion. For the first half of FY2024 ending September, we achieved a JPY1 trillion net profit, a sharp recovery from the previous year's JPY1.4 trillion loss, fueled by our strategic investments in T-Mobile and SoftBank Vision Fund. T-Mobile, now the largest #telecom globally by market cap, reached an all-time high of USD233 in October, yielding a 9.6x MOIC and 26% IRR on our investment.Arm has continued its strong trajectory post-IPO. In Q2, Arm’s revenue hit USD844 million, with adjusted operating profit reaching USD326 million—both above Street expectations. Meta's recent release of Llama 3.2, optimized for Arm-based CPUs, further showcases Arm’s strengths in performance and energy efficiency. The SoftBank Vision Funds (SVF) recorded USD4 billion in gains, achieving cumulative positive performance for the first time in nine quarters. SoftBank Vision Fund 1 gained USD3 billion, buoyed by public companies such as Coupang and DiDi, while SoftBank Vision Fund 2 saw USD900 million in growth from private firms like Revolut and Klarna. Our portfolio also saw successful IPOs from FirstCry.com (BrainBees Solutions Ltd.) and Ola Electric in India, alongside our pivotal investment in OpenAI, a leader in the AI revolution. 📹Watch the full update in the video below. 🔗Find more details: https://lnkd.in/gsaykqsy
