Uhm, I'm a moderately boring person? :P Love things Japanese, history, reading, being with my friends. I have a completely useless contract-major in Japanese Studies from Illinois State. I moved home in August 2009 from five years in Japan as an ALT on the JET Program, where I lived for four of those years in a small town called Ishibe (石部町), which is in Shiga Prefecture (滋賀県) and then for my last year in another small town 30 minutes east of there called Hino (日野). My time in Japan is still with me in a lot of ways (I somehow think it always will be) and I miss it a great deal, but I'm not unhappy to be home (I just wish I could be in two places at once).
I have two retired racing Greyhounds (rescued Greys), one named Blu and one (my boy!) named Gryffin, whom I adore. If you're thinking about getting a new dog, GET A GREYHOUND. They're fabulous dogs and not hyper like so many people believe. In fact, they're the poster children for couch potatoes. I miss them to death being here in Japan! Even if you don't want a greyhound, adopt from a shelter!
Additionally, I love the Northwoods of Wisconsin, where my family has been going annually for something like 35 years all told or more, and where we've owned a cabin on Moose Lake for more than 30 years. The depths to which I love that place are difficult for me to put into words. The best times of my life have been spent in those woods and I can only hope I pass on such a happy legacy to my own kids one day.
