Of 44'2 dogs examined in the Sudan for the presence of salmonellae 104 ('23'5 per cent) were foun... more Of 44'2 dogs examined in the Sudan for the presence of salmonellae 104 ('23'5 per cent) were found to be infected. One hundred and twenty-nine cultures were recovered from dogs and were classified into 46 serotypes belonging to 12 "0" groups. Two new serotypes (S. khartoum and S. malakal) were obtained. As far as is known to the writer 30 serotypes are reported for the first time from dogs. Salmonellae were isolated more frequently from mesenteric lymph nodes (26 per cent) than from intestinal contents (5"26 per cent) or bile (1'4 per cent) of the killed dogs. Of 19 cats examined two were found infected with salmonellae.

Background: The Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) scheme was launched in 1975, to prov... more Background: The Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) scheme was launched in 1975, to provide holistic development of children through a package of services aimed at reduction of child malnutrition, morbidity and mortality. Objectives: To find out available infrastructure at Anganwadi Centers. To study the utilization of supplementary nutrition service by beneficiaries at Anganwadi Centers. To find out the reasons given by beneficiaries for not utilizing supplementary nutrition service. Materials and method: A Cross sectional observational study conducted at Bareilly in 22 Anganwadi Centres selected by multistage sampling technique. Selected Anganwadi Centres were visited and selected Anganwadi workers and beneficiaries were interviewed. Observations: 85% of lactating mothers, 83.6% of pregnant women, 78.8% of adolescent girls, 61% of children in the age group >6 months upto 3 years and 50.6% of beneficiaries in the age group >3 years upto 6 years received supplementary nutrition. Conclusion: Utilization of supplementary services was found to be highest among lactating mothers followed by pregnant women and lowest among beneficiaries in the age group >3 years upto 6 years.

Information on the prevalence of SARS-CoV-2 antibodies in women and children in Madinah has been limited. The current study aimed to evaluate SARS-CoV-2 IgG seropositivity among women and children at Madinah Maternity and Children’s Hospital. Methods: In this cross-sectional study, 579 participants were recruited between January and April 2021 from Madinah Maternity and Children’s Hospital, Saudi Arabia. Data concerning age, sex (for children), blood group, and height and weight (for women) were collected from the hospital database. SARS-CoV-2 anti-spike (anti-S) IgG antibodies were detected by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Results: Over 58% of children (n = 195), including 60% of children ≤ 1 year (n = 75), and 50.2% (n = 124) of women were SARS-CoV-2 anti-S IgG seropositive. It seeks to focus on the examples of McDonald's and Ford.Design/methodology/approachThe article draws on work carried out by the authors, plus the HR literature.FindingsIt is argued that flexible, easy and team‐friendly communication styles, rather than the traditional system of bureaucratic communication, are the way forward. It reveals, through the examples of McDonald's and Ford, that informal communication protocols can mean better customer service and organizational performance.Practical implicationsThe article draws attention to a couple of the disadvantages of more open, informal communication styles – in particular that employees can originate incorrect information which nevertheless is absorbed by people around the world, and that employees who move to another company can take sensitive information...

As such there is a risk of exportation and globalization of vector-borne viruses, including the re-emerging Zika virus (ZIKV). There was international concern regarding the introduction of ZIKV to KSA and potential international spread of the virus following the 2016 Hajj which took place few days after the Rio summer Olympics at the height of the ZIKV pandemic. We aimed to detect flaviviruses, including ZIKV, circulating among mosquito hosts in the city of Makkah during and post the 2016 Hajj pilgrimage. Mosquitos (adults and larvae) were sampled from 15 sites in Makkah city during and post the 2016 Hajj and identified to species by morphological keys. This paper analyzes the contributions of Shaykh Muhammad 'Abduh to modernity, and his struggle fo... more This paper analyzes the contributions of Shaykh Muhammad 'Abduh to modernity, and his struggle for change and reform in al-Azhar and Egyptian society. Abduh was hailed as the "first leader of modern thought in Egypt", "the father of the 20 th century Muslim thought" and "pioneers of the modernist movement in the Arab world", whose legacy in the history of Islamic reform was significant, carrying dynamic role in the transformation and reinterpretation of Islam in contemporary thought. His contribution to Islamic modernism was clearly seen in liberalizing the educational system, restructuring the mufti (jurist consult) office, transforming the Islamic worldview, championing Islamic feminism and integrating western and Islamic ideals and tradition.
