Even though the development process was considered to be successful, the degree of usage of the Internet-based after-sales service has been low. Taking a stand-point in information systems (IS) failure literature; we claim that an inter-organizational relationship perspective must be taken. Furthermore, this paper identifies four inter-organizational IS failure types in the paper machine producer case. The most important IS failure types identified are the problem to meet customers ’ needs regarding the product, communication with the supplier, not sufficient top management support and organizational changes at the supplier.

Services have also come to be the core product of the value-adding processes in manufacturing firms. In many services and service processes, IT (Information Technology) is now playing a crucial part. Surprisingly, "Services and IT" have traditionally been studied separately in research. In the light of this, the present chapter will therefore introduce some models by which service operations are related to the use of IT. To traditional banks the Internet development means that they are facing requirements for an enormous transformation process. Their IT departments have, and will continue to have, a critical role in this process

In the B2B context, the expected economic "net-value" is a primary concern when considering a deployment in an electronic commerce system or not. The main purpose is to suggest some issues to consider for possible modications of the PENG method. Firstly, this empirically grounded method for assessing an organization's economic "net value" from an IT investment is described. Then a review of some of the IS evaluation literature, structured along Pettigrew's contextual framework, is presented. In the concluding part of the paper some of the suggested modifications of the PENG method is presented

The main purpose of this paper is to identify and discuss new preconditions for established critical success conditions in Enterprise systems change projects. Traditional Enterprise systems technology and traditional plan-driven project management methods are not in an effective way supporting the established critical success conditions for Enterprise systems change projects. Supported by the findings from one case study, we propose that new preconditions, such as modern Enterprise systems technology, more narrowly defined projects and agile methods are matching each other. We also propose that this combination of new pre...
