Howard University’s Karsh STEM Scholars Program received the 2020 Inspiring Programs in STEM Award
Alexandria Adigun
Cohort 1
This summer, I earned an amazing opportunity to intern at the Institute of Molecular Pathology in Vienna, Austria for 9 weeks. With over 3,000 applicants, I am a part of a cohort of 28 students from around the globe and the first African-American to intern with this program in its 10 year history. Never would I have thought I would have fallen in love with research, but the Karsh STEM Scholars Program has roped me in, and I don’t think I’ll ever get unhooked! The field is diversifying in numerous ways and I’m honored to be mentored by truly dynamic people at Howard University.
The Karsh STEM Scholars Program is Howard University’s premier scholarship program for high-achieving students of science, technology, engineering and mathematics disciplines, offering full scholarships for undergraduate studies and support for successful matriculation through graduate and professional studies. The Karsh STEM Scholars Program is committed to increasing the number of underrepresented minorities who earn a Ph.D., or combined M.D.-Ph.D. in STEM-related disciplines.
