Research paper thumbnail of The Study on Conventional Farming Practice - A Case Study of Farmers' Practice in Samroung Village, Cambodia

Although agrochemicals utilization has significantly increased crop production, it has negative impact on human health, sustainability of land use and ecosystem. Therefore, this study has been focused on conventional farming practice in Samroung village of Kampong Cham province, Cambodia. The main objectives of this study are 1) to understand current situation of farming practices in the village and 2) to identify the condition of agrochemicals applied at farmlands. To access the objectives of this study, various participatory researches, both quantitative and qualitative have been conducted. Semi-structured interviews, in-depth interviews, focus-group discussion were conducted, and secondary data were used in this study. Data was summarized and analyzed to observe the significant difference and high confident correlation of these variables by using One-way ANOVA and Regr...

This study aimed to investigate the effects of GA3 application at different flowering stages on agronomic traits and seed yield of hybrid parental lines. A micro-crossing plot experiment was employed for A line multiplication (HCSA/HCSB) under five treatments: applying GA3 at 0%, 10%, 30% and 50% panicle heading stages and not applying GA3. The results indicated flag leaf length, number of internodes, length of base internode, spikelets per panicle, total dry biomass of both lines, panicle length of HCSA line and seed setting rate of HCSB line were not significantly different among the treatments. However, applying GA3 at 10% panicle heading to 50% flowering stage significantly increased plant height, length of 1st, 2nd, and 3rd upper internodes, total length of these three upper internod...

However, rice yield is low so it is vitally important to increase rice yield through promoting new rice varieties and cultivation methods. To promote new knowledge for famers, an experiment regarding the effect of transplanting methods on rice yield of different varieties was conducted in experimental station. The experiment investigated the interaction of different transplanting methods on rice varieties and identified the best variety and transplanting methods for rice cultivation. The experimental design was based on Randomize Complete Block Design (RCBD) which had six treatments: Riang Chey variety with straight-row transplanting, Riang Chey variety with conventional transplanting, Phkar Rumduol variety with straight-row transplanting, Phkar Rumduol variety with conventional transplanting, IR66 variety with straight-row transplanting, IR66 variety with con...
