The rivalry, which got prominence from the 1979 Islamic revolution of Iran till date, has divided the region into two major power-blocs with Saudi-Arabia as the leader of the Sunni-dominated countries, while Iran is spearheading the Shia-controlled societies. The rivalry between the two countries has been seen by many as a struggle and competition for power and influence in the Middle-East region. Therefore, this study aims to examine the Saudi-Iran Diplomatic Face-off and its security implications on the Middle-East. The study adopted Game Theory and System Theory for its framework analysis and employed as its methodology, the utilization of data sourced mainly from textbooks, Journals, and relevant online materials. The study concluded that the Saudi-Iran rivalry is being played out in some highly contested theatres, including Yemen, Bahrain, Iraq, Syria, and even Saudi's Eastern Province where the two governments are deeply engaged in proxy conflicts. The current rivalry could further complicate efforts to end wars in Syria and Yemen. The diplomatic fallout could also strengthen the resolve of Sunni extremist groups like the Islamic State (ISIL) to attack Middle Eastern countries with sizeable Shia communities such as Kuwait, Yemen, Lebanon, Qatar, Syria, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE. The study thus recommends that unless the two warring parties shield their swords and avoid the ongoing proxy wars, the region will be plunged into a more catastrophic conflict, the impact of which will be felt in the entire region and beyond.

For these states, the Covid-19 pandemic represents an opportunity to bolster their regional and global presence. While Saudi Arabia and Israel reliance on US protection eclipsed their prospect of been part of newly emerging regional powers in the region.

successfully manage the growing threats of the IMN,
it‘s imperative for the government to adopt a multipronged approach or carrot and stick policy by
consciously encouraging the likes of RAF, ATF and
SHIMA in their ideological rivalries with the IMN.
The use of excessive force might be counterproductive because it risks given the IMN a pristine
of martyrdom that could force some to go either
underground or deploy terrorist measures.
