I have boxes and packing material, I could just use a few more hands to help make it happen. So if you are bored and want to lend a hand playing Tetris (The real life edition) I'd appreciate the company. Flag BLITEOTW-A You know, I gotta say, working for Cryptic has it's benefits. Good pay, fun product to work on, excellent benefits, and all in all a pretty nice facility. You know what the facility isn't though? Fucking Zombie-proof.So, check it; here we all are at the office, working through lunch because we are crunching for a milestone. I'm in the server room working on the damn phone system again. Darn thing just keeps crashing. Stupid windows 2000 PBX.Anyway, there we are when a "guest" slams through the front door and gobbles up our poor recpetionist. Shame, she was a real sweet gal too. Anyhow, from there the two of them go storming through one section of the building, and before I even know there is a problem half of one of our project teams is gone. I happen to look up at the monitor to see the zombies chasing down one of our QA guys through the kitchen.Well, being the sort of folk we are Gary and I quickly marshal a defense. It's obvious we can't stay downstairs, too many fracking windows; but we do have ways of making the upstairs reasonable secure. A quickly locked door here, a quietly locked door there, oh and of course 5 of those nice glass-and-steel cublicles hurled down the main staircase to make a barricade. As a side note, another unrealized perk about working at Cryptic is the sheer number of melee weapons around. When it came time to rescue Ari from where she was trapped in May's office it turns out the number of swords availible were staggering.Truth is, we are kinda fucked now. We have 48 survivors, including Gary, Ari and Nate, though Dave's been bit and I think we're gonna have to put him down. We are trapped upstairs. We have bathrooms and a Starbucks machine, but not alot of food. The network up, so long as power remains, but let's face it; this is Los Gatos. We've lost power so many times I can't even count them.I've been up to the roof a couple of times, and at least our building isn't really being swarmed, at least not yet. Must be because we try not to publish our address.

Flag Why not. Alright, so I've been reading this meme on enough of my friends journals I figured it might be interesting enough to do, so why not. You've heard it all before.. but here it is again:"Everyone has things they blog about. Everyone has things they don't blog about. Challenge me out of my comfort zone by telling me something I don't blog about, but you'd like to hear about, and I'll write a post about it. Ask for anything: latest movie watched, last book read, political leanings, thoughts on religion, favorite type of underwear, random techniques, etc. Repost in your own journal so that we can all learn more about each other!Or alternatively you can ask me a question, any question and I will answer it. Comments Screened unless you tell me not to. Anonymous comments allowed. And I will answer your question even if it is insulting and trollish with the same consideration I give everyone else."Comments are screened but I am logging IPs."So there we have it... Let's see what interesting questions folks may ask.

Flag RIP Gary Gygax So I rarely post this things... but seriously, this is important to me.MILWAUKEE, Wisconsin (AP) -- Gary Gygax, who co-created the fantasy game Dungeons & Dragons and helped start the role-playing phenomenon, died Tuesday morning at his home in Lake Geneva. He was 69.He had been suffering from health problems for several years, including an abdominal aneurysm, said his wife, Gail Gygax.Gygax and Dave Arneson developed Dungeons & Dragons in 1974 using medieval characters and mythical creatures. The game known for its oddly shaped dice became a hit, particularly among teenage boys, and eventually was turned into video games, books and movies.Gygax always enjoyed hearing from the game's legion of devoted fans, many of whom would stop by the family's home in Lake Geneva, about 55 miles southwest of Milwaukee, his wife said. Despite his declining health, he hosted weekly games of Dungeons & Dragons as recently as January, she said."It really meant a lot to him to hear from people from over the years about how he helped them become a doctor, a lawyer, a policeman, what he gave them," Gygax said. "He really enjoyed that."Dungeons & Dragons players create fictional characters and carry out their adventures with the help of complicated rules. The quintessential geek pastime, it spawned a wealth of copycat games and later inspired a whole genre of computer games that's still growing in popularity.Funeral arrangements are pending. Besides his wife, Gygax is survived by six children.http://www.cnn.com/2008/TECH/03/04/obit.gygax.ap/index.html?section=cnn_latest
