KCCA coach Abdallah Mubiru and his Kitara counterpart Brian Ssenyondo have stoked flames ahead of the two sides’ meeting in the premier league on Friday at the MTN Omondi stadium, Lugogo.

In the aftermath of a 1-1 draw with BUL, Mubiru reacted to a question about facing Kitara and described them as a team on form currently but not as big as hyped by the media something he repeated in his pre-match interview on Thursday.

“I insist, my statement was very clear but only those not conversant with Ugandan football maybe failed to understand it,” he told reporters. “They are a good team playing well and winning matches at the moment but they are not a big team yet,” he added.

“Will they get big, I don’t know what the future holds because we have seen teams like SC Victoria University come up, won a trophy but they are nowhere at the moment.

“We know who are the big teams in Uganda and that cant change overnight but I am happy with the competition they have brought because it is good for the game.”

In response, Ssenyondo presented last season’s performance as evidence they are big.

“If we compare last season, we finished above them and also won a trophy,” said Ssenyondo.

“In the last 4-5 years, they are not anywhere amongst any trophies and so how do they compare at the moment.”

Back to the pitch, KCCA could unleash their latest new addition Gavin Kizito in the match day squad while the visitors also have waiting debutants in Umar Lutalo, Rogers Mugisha and Patrick Kaddu who were unveiled just this week.
