Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) overcame visiting Kitara 2-0 during match day three of the Star Times 2024-2025 Uganda Premier League at the MTN Omondi stadium, Lugogo on Friday, 27th September 2024.
Two first half goals from Saidi Mayanja and Derrick Paul Nsibambi inspired the Kasasiro lads under floodlights.

Mayanja scored the opening goal on 11 minutes, thanks to the spade work of Shafik Nana Kwikiriza.
Nsibambi added on the second goal, a decent finish from an acute angle as the closing moments of the opening stanza came by.
Right from the opening stages of the game, KCCA commenced vibrantly.
Inverted left winger Kwikiriza shot narrowly on six minutes.
Kitara forward Jude Ssemugabi had a knock that he swiftly threaded off to the delight of the visitors.
Mayanja lit up the Lugogo atmosphere on 11 minutes with a great finish past goalkeeper Chrispas Kusiima following a decent assist from a lively Kwikiriza.

On the quarter hour mark, Kitara captain Maxwell Owachigui executed a long ball that went straight to the hosts’ goalkeeper Mutwalib Mugolofa.
It was Kitara once again as Ssemugabi set up Fred Amaku whose shot was blocked.
The hosts lost Erick Muber through injury as he was stretchered off for Living Kabon in Kitara’s forced change after 24 minutes.
KCCA’s left back James Mubeezi was cautioned for a wild lunge to Kitara exciting midfielder Frank “Zaga” Tuwmesigye.
On the half hour mark, Kitara defender Ronald Otti got cautioned by referee Ashadu Ssemere for a foul on Derrick Nsibambi.

Kitara lost a second player, Rogers Mugisha with a strained hamstring for Lazaro Bwambale after 31 minutes.
Kitara created a couple of chances in quick succession. First Fred Amaku shot direct at KCCA goalkeeper Mutwalib Mugolofa, Ssemugabi shot over from close range after Ivan Sserubiri’s free-kick and defender Otti arrived late to connect with Kabob’s inviting free-kick towards the half hour mark.
Against the run of play, Nsibambi scored KCCA’s second goal. The center forward rounded off goalkeeper Kusiima to finish in an acute angle to establish a 2-0 lead by the mandatory break.
Upon restart of play for the final 45 minutes. Kitara called for a double change.
Fred Amaku and Ronald Otti paved way for Umar Lutalo and Moses Sseruyidde respectively.

KCCA resumed business for the second half on the tone the first half had ended.
A mazy run by Kwikiriza on the right flank excited many in the stand before the left footer released the roving right back Gavin Kizito who was in an off-side position.
Eight minutes into the half, Joel Sserunjogi’s high ball meant for Etienne Katenga sailed out of play on the left flank.
Kizito headed away Moses Sseruyidde’s curling free-kick after 55 minutes before Kitara skipper Owachigui cleared danger after another KCCA attack.
Kwikiriza continued to entertain with fancy footwork and a deft chip for Derrick Nsibambi who shoots the lower post as KCCA sought for a killer.
Sseruyidde curled in another dangerous free-kick into the crowded KCCA goal area that left goalkeeper Mugolofa injured after 65 minutes.

Omedi got cautioned in the 71st minute after a malicious tackle.
The hosts called for double change in the final 18 minutes. Defender Peter Magambo was introduced for midfielder Mayanja and Ashiraf Mugume replaced the industrious Etienne Katenga.
Sseruyidde shot over from a free-kick, 35 yards away from the KCCA goal before KCCA defender Hassan Muhamud got cautioned for a dangerous foul to Ssemugabi.
Kitara introduced former Wakiso Giants midfielder Titus “Tito” Ssematimba for Ivan Sserubiri with two minutes to play.
Meanwhile, KCCA brought on Sharif Ssengendo for a silent Bright Anukani.
Mugume was booked for protesting a referee decision on 84 minutes before man of the moment Kwikiriza shoot wide after a great run on the right flank.
With two minutes to climax the game, Magambo blocked Kabon’s shot inside the goal area as the visitors desperately fought for at least a goal.
Ssengendo got cautioned inside the four added minutes and KCCA held onto a famous win against Kitara following a barrage of word between gaffers Abdallah Mubiru (KCCA) and Brian Ssengendo (Kitara).

Kitara sadly fell in their second game of the campaign, as they also lost 1-2 at their new Royals Park in Butema to NEC on match day two.
Earlier on Friday, Wakiso Giants overcame Mbale Heroes 1-0 at the Kabaka Kyabaggu stadium in Wakiso.
Match day three continues with a double header at Hamz Stadium (Nakivubo) in the heart of Kampala city.
Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) takes on Mbarara City in the early kick off at 4 PM. The day will climax with Express’ duel against Maroons under floodlights.
We planned well for the match and executed what we trained. We created very many chances against Kitara and were able to score twice. We could have scored more. We need to keep improving as the league grows.
