Defying long-held assumptions that developing empathy, broadening understanding, and coming up with solutions are only possible in person, effective approaches for assisting in the resolution of the growing number of arguments that have developed online have emerged. Technology has become the "fourth party" in settling disputes, thanks to the developing field of Online Dispute Resolution (ODR), which includes the use of technology and computer-mediated communication (CMC) in negotiation, mediation, arbitration, and other dispute resolution processes.
