perceptions of and reactions to their online learning experiences. Past research has

shown that students approach online learning with a host of expectations, motivations

and attitudes. As the number of students taking online courses grows, educators and

course designers experience challenges as they attempt to create learning

environments and designs beneficial and attractive to leaners. Based on interviews and

examination of artifacts, my findings included five key themes regarding students’

experiences and reactions to online learning. The results substantiate the ideas that

online learners are looking for meaningful and enriching experiences and also greatly

value convenience and other factors which fit into their lifestyles and commitments.

Other conclusions regarding online learning are presented and directions for future

research are discussed.
