More specifically, based on the integrated model of Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT) and Civic Voluntarism Model (CVM), we develop a research model on how technological factors (e.g., performance expectancy, effort expectancy, social influence, and facilitating conditions) as well as social factors (e.g., political interests and experience) influence Facebook users’ political participation intention, which lead to actual political participation behavior, focusing on the Cambodian context. Our research model will be empirically tested with survey samples gathered from Cambodian Facebook users and their actual political behaviors, measured by counting actual comments of each survey respondent one month after the survey. While prior ...

Based on the stimulus–organism–response (S–O–R) framework, this study identifies and validates the impacts of both technological and fashion-related factors (interactivity, autonomy, visual aesthetics and self-expression) on product attachment towards smartwatches through user satisfaction and pleasure derived from their smartwatches.Design/methodology/approachThe authors collected the survey data via online surveys from 198 respondents and tested measurement and structural models with the partial least square technique.FindingsThe authors found that both technological characteristics (interactivity and autonomy) and fashion-related characteristics (visual aesthetics and self-expression) have an impact on product attachment through pleasure.Research limitations/implicationsSeveral other important characteristics of tradition...

The aim of this study is to understand the factors that prevent independent travelers from selecting smaller regions (i.e., relatively less popular destinations) and examine the impact of these constraint factors on destination image formation. Using both qualitative and quantitative data collected from independent travelers, this study found that intrapersonal, interpersonal, structural, and awareness constraints are the major constraint factors. Intrapersonal constraints were found to be negatively associated with the cognitive and affective image of a destination, while awareness constraints were found to be negatively associated with the cognitive image of a dest...

In this context, a number of researchers have paid attention to the quality of life of tourists, and therefore, the positive relationship between tourism experience and the quality of life has been proved. However, tourism experience that affects the quality of life in everyday life has characteristics of autobiographical memory. In addition, numerous tourists post their tourism experience on social networking services in order to better preserve or enhance their memory. Therefore, this study aims to extend the framework of tourism experience - tourist satisfaction - the quality of life, which has been proven by previous studies by considering both the mediating role of autobiographical memory and the moderating role of social networking service posting.

While a large quantity of research has focused on the role of textual features and visual features separately, the specific role of similarity between textual and visual information in online review evaluations (e.g., review usefulness and review enjoyment) remains unaddressed. Thus, drawing on dual coding theory, this study attempts to investigate the impacts of textual and visual features on review evaluations by employing the Latent Dirichlet Allocation (LDA) topic modeling and Google Vision API's web detection techniques in the context of online restaurant review (ORR). Moreover, the moderating role of semantic similarity is examined in the relationships between textual/visual features and ORR evaluations. It is believed that this study could provide implications on information comprehension, draw consumer interest, and provide suggestions for restaurant managers to tune levels of review evaluation in a proper manner.

Due to the nature of the unique characteristics of Airbnb, as one of the most representative cases of sharing economy businesses, the effort of this research contributes to the literature by integrating attachment theory with the trust building model (TBM), which leads us to identify two types of trust initiators: cognitiveand affectbased trust. This work also reveals the mediating role of attachment in the relationship between trust and the behavioral outcome (i.e., continuous use intention). As the first stage of research in progress, the current paper presents a conceptual research model to be empirically tested in the next stage. At the end of the paper, expected implications for both theories and practices are discussed.

To survive in this fierce competition, mobile game developers often try to get a grasp of the rapidly changing needs of their customers by operating their own official communities where game users freely leave their requests, suggestions, and ideas relevant to focal games. Based on the heuristic-systematic model (HSM) and the data quality (DQ) framework, this study derives key content, non-content, and hybrid cues that can be utilized when game developers accept suggested postings in these online communities. The results of hierarchical multiple regression analysis show that relevancy, timeliness, amount of writing, and the number of comments are positively associated with mobile game developers' knowledge adoption. In addition, title attractiveness mitigates the relationship between amount of writing/the number of comments and knowledge adoption.

This research proposes four linguistic cues (i.e., affective, cognitive, social, and perceptual) related to a reviewer's psychological processes and explores their relationships with fake reviews while examining the influence of time distance and reviewer location on these reviews. The results of logistic regression analysis of 43,496 reviews from Yelp.com suggest that affective, social, and perceptual cues are significantly related to fake reviews with the presence of the significant effects of time distance and reviewer location. Further, the results of post-hoc analysis confirm that the effect of photos on fake reviews is limited. This study contributes to the body of knowledge on online reviews and interpersonal deception theory, providing valuable implications for practitioners in the hospitality and tourism industry.

This paper critically examines a theoretical model to explore how these market partners engage in this platform organization and how their perceptions of attachment and ownership are established within the new organizational structure. The results of structural equation modeling applied to 224 Airbnb hosts indicate that attachment to a platform firm plays a vital role in achieving a sense of psychological ownership that ultimately influences citizenship behaviors toward the organization as well as toward peer hosts. The results suggest that the newly formed structure should acknowledge an establishing mechanism of attachment and psychological ownership in partnering with individual service providers in its operational management.

This study identified a heuristic processing of content richness and source credibility and applied both for utilitarian and hedonic evaluations. Furthermore, we analyzed the moderating effect of restaurant type (casual, luxury fine dining restaurant). A total of 2629 online reviews were used, with 1323 reviews for three casual restaurants and 1306 reviews for three luxury restaurants. To collect the data, web harvesting and web content mining were conducted to extract useful information by employing an R program. which automatically extract online data. The results reveal that the effect of content richness and source credibility on utilitarian evaluations are greater for a casual restaurant than for a luxury restaurant, whereas only the number of content-rich images had a higher effect on hedonic evaluations of a casual restaurant. The implications of the findings can contribute to the development of marketing strategies.

Crowdfunding is regarded as a novel way of collecting money for innovators to introduce products ... more Crowdfunding is regarded as a novel way of collecting money for innovators to introduce products or services they ultimately wish to launch. The question arises, however, of what makes funding projects on these online platforms, with their different features of project evaluation and risk management, more successful than traditional fundraising approaches. We examine this question in the context of a preordering model, which is also known as the reward-based crowdfunding model. A large-sample data analysis based on 116,956 crowdfunding projects on Kickstarter showed that most founder (i.e., identity disclosure and prior experience) and project (i.e., comments, updates, description elaborateness, and campaign duration) features have a positive effect on successful crowd fundraising. We also found a negative relationship between the funding goal amount and successful fundraising. Our findings may contribute not only to knowledge accumulation in crowdfunding research, but also to founders by offering evidence-based guidelines on the design of successful crowdfunding projects in an online fundraising platform.
