_2:01 am_[saint_angelus] about world peace.... It starts in ourselves. But like world peace, love is one of those great things almost everyone strives for. I belong to a great community (http://www.livejournal.com/community/love_is_now/) who's members allort love. At any rate. I think world peace starts with peace within'. Calm and tame the demon within' yourself and teach another how. The concept of the film "Pay it forward" is great...I believe it can work. But first we must toss out all prejudice, all blind hate, all misconceptions and steriotypes, all pesimism, all jadedness, for that is what allows chaos to fester. And if we are going to die in peace knowing our children and our childrens children are safe...then we must pass on the lessons of peace and love. (Comment on this)

_3:25 pm_[evening_glory] Hmm...a bit dead, are we? Not to worry. I was kind:)Last week I went to get my driver's license and the man taking pictures looked really sad. I saw on his desk a card that offered sympathy for the recent loss of his fiance, so on my very first driving trip by myself I went to the grocery store and bought him a big bar of chocolate, some flowers, and a card. I put his name on the card and left the bag for him, and it was supposed to be anonymous, but the lady at the front desk recognized me and told him it was me. He called me later and now we're friends! Yay! I was worried it wouldn't be as much fun if he found out it was me but...I guess all's well that ends well. Current Mood: happy (Comment on this)

_9:10 am_[wwing] The other day The other day when I was going to 7-11 to buy coffee I noticed a woman in her car fumbling through her ash tray for change,so after I went in to get coffee I noticed that she got some and was behind me in line. I handed the clerk a 5 and told him that I waspaying for both hers and mine. She was totally blown away why a stranger would buy her coffee. I just told her to have a nice day and drove onto work.Random acts of kindness can make someone's day... not only the person that is receiving it, but the person that gives it. _10:07 am_[felicity869] Any Help would be greatly apreciated (cross posted in glamourbombs, randomkindness, kindminds and a_better_place so sorry if you've already seen this)Hi I'm new...So I had it all set up for me to send random letters to random people filled with quotes, glitter, candies, good luck pennies, paper springs with smily-faces on the ends and so on (and I probably still will do that). But then I started thinking of how much grander it would be if I knew what these people would enjoy getting, needed or wanted the most. So I ask for your help. If you could please send me the names and addresses of everyone that you know who needs a little magic in their lives, who could use some serious cheering up then I would love to send them an anonymous little package of love. You could give me a list of their favorite things (books, candy, color, artists etc.), the reason they need the cheering up or just their name and it could be completely random things. You could either post these things here or email them to me at flyinpurplemunkiez@yahoo.com. Thanks for any help :)... Current Mood: happy (Comment on this)

_4:35 pm_[smorewhore] Food, glorious food If you've ever been to Chicago, you've no doubt noticed the plethora of homeless folks on the sidewalks. When I went to lunch (back when I had a job), I'd go down to the local Subway once or twice a month. However, I'd order a footlong instead of just a six-inch (all I could eat), then go back outside and ask one of the homeless folks if they'd like to share.Either that or I'd just go to White Hen and buy sandwiches and drinks for a few people I'd see along my walk. Ten bucks is better spent on keeping two other people alive a little longer rather than blowing it on more stuff I don't really need. (2 Comments |Comment on this)

_11:15 am_[smorewhore] When we host garage sales, there is always a tray of stuffed animals and other assorted small toys. If a child comes along and tries to pay with their allowance money or a quarter or something, I tell them they can take the toy home if they smile, which they usually do. New toys, yay! _4:36 pm_[riesters7] How 2 peoples acts of kindness, made me feel so good. Today when I started to walk to class, it was only drizzling out. So I didnt think to "dress for the weather" but the walk to my class is like 10-15 minutes away. On my way there, it started DOWNPOARING...I was soooo soaked by the time I got to where my class was. I got to the building, and outside there was this guy there. He looked at me and said, "wow you are soaked" and so what did he do? He stood up, unzipped his jacked, and took off his shirt, then gave me a t-shirt underneath that to wear. He told me to go change, and so I did. I went to change in the building, came back outside, and tried to come up with a way to meet him again to give him back his shirt, like after class. Well, he said not to worry about it, and that he had alot of t-shirts. After class, I purposely changed back into my soaken sweatshirt, just incase I did see that guy. I never saw him since then. The rain didnt let up, but actually got worse. I tried to wait til it would die down. And after about 1/2 hour couldnt anymore. So I decided to try to walk back home. I got so wet, and it got really bad. In class I noticed my books were all rain damaged, and knew that they would only get worse. But had to keep walking. Then, i saw this girl who had an umbrella, and she let me get underneath it. I will never forget those 2 individuals. There SMAll acts of kindness meant so much to me. They didnt have to help me at all. They could have just keep to themselves, and not even have bothered with me. But they didnt, and I will never forget that! Just thought I would share this story. _12:37 pm_[mino] Fractions shmactions I feel a little too self-congratulatory (haha) posting here.. but oh well. I know this one Albanian girl from my school, and she asked me to help her with some math. When she was in her country her school blew up in 5th grade so she hadn't learned math in forever. Plus, when she was at school last year, she told the guidance counselor that she was only here to learn English, so they didn't give her any math classes. She really hates math. I had lunch but I sat in the library with her and taught her how to do fractions. She had no idea how to do them but she said she understood by the end. I could sort of see the appeal in teaching that day. (Comment on this)

_10:51 pm_[cierrablue] I was intentionally kind today by tipping someone who gave me BAD service. I let held the elevator for someone on the fourth floor (if you saw the people on the fourth floor, you'd know how kind I really was).I gave someone I really dislike some encouraging words. Everyone needs a brake. My affection for a person doesn't change that fact. (Comment on this)

_10:04 pm_[pinkiegrl] Kindness... "No act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted."- Aesop (550 BC - )"You cannot do a kindness too soon because you never know how soon it will be too late."- Ralph Waldo Emerson (1803 - 1882)"This is my simple religion. There is no need for temples; no need for complicated philosophy. Extend to them all the care, kindness, and understanding you can muster, and do so with no thought of any reward. Your life will never be the same again."- Og Mandino"Whoever you are-I have always depended on the kindness of strangers."- Tennessee Williams (1911 - 1983)I hope these inspire you...Have a wonderful night/day!!XOXO,~*Liz*~ Current Mood: sleepy (2 Comments |Comment on this)
