The literature survey analysis is limited to published articles and studies. Literature survey analysis is a type of literature review aimed as broadly described, more or less systematic, way of collecting and synthesizing previously chosen researches supposed identified in accordance to a chose to focus. Popular search engines were used browsing through ScienceDirect, Research Gate, and Web of Science was used to generate the information. This health emergency of COVID-19 raised to a pandemic level had changed and kept on affecting millions of lives of astounding magnitude with multidimensional implications. The pandemic placed the whole world at a standstill, interventions putting countries into a shutdown as most if not all nation’s leaders chose strict quarantine restrictions to all social and economic activities. Higher education is one social institution affected just the same as others. The safety of students, teachers, and administrators was put at a priority thus forcing the entire educational system into a challenge of continuing the teaching-learning process without compromising the health conditions of everyone involved in the process. Alternatives were identified towards the more impersonal and indirect methodology of continuing the learning process. Online education, distance education, e-learning, and other alternative modes of learning delivery by any means necessary just to be able to continue on with the “new normal” in the academic institutions. The technology was more than welcome into these alternative models. The internet, social media applications, and even the more traditional television and radio were utilized to supplement the more popular ones. There were also revisions made in the curriculum being implemented to suit the “new needs” as required by the restrictions and challenges of students and teachers being safely tucked in their home environments. Teachers and learners were also made to adopt the more “impersonal” means of communicating and connecting making the most of the present strategies to work to their own advantages. New competencies for teachers to teach online and students developing new skills to survive the virtual learning models made available by most schools and universities.

The Covid-19 pandemic including all other measures imposed upon humanity must have further affected these students as academic activities continued and have just shifted to the online format. Providing these measures of well-being and distress status would and may provide a new perspective in trying to understand better their condition. Aims: The purpose of the study was to explore diverse variables/factors that might have an association with the wellbeing and distress conditions of nursing students during the Covid-19 Pandemic especially emphasizing the Saudi Arabian experience. Methods: A total of 324 participated in the approved online survey sent to all enrolled nursing students during the months of June-October 2020 in a premier university in Saudi Arabia. Descriptive statistics and the Chi-square test of association were utilized. Results: The well-being index among the participants was Mn=3.01/SD=0.867 while the psychological distress scale's status was Mn=2.81/SD=0.484. Well-being ratings came as significantly associated with sex (p=.001), birth order (p=.037), leisure activity (p=.005), year level (p=.003), and average daily rest time (p=.041). While psychological distress status came with a significant relationship with sex (p=.001), leisure activity (p=.004), and average daily study time (p=.001). Conclusion: Students' academic experience amidst a pandemic scenario affected their well-being and further complicated their psychological condition. Certain variables surely aggravated their conditions and must warrant enough attention from both academicians and parents alike to sustain non-failing, functional experiences.

AIMS To synthesize published mental health research studies in and for Saudi Arabia for the years 2009-2019 with the confidence to evaluate current situation, identify research gaps and limitations (if any), and assist in conceptualizing the forthcoming directions of future mental health research activities. METHODS Scoping systematic review and modified narrative analysis were the methods utilized to achieve the aim and objective set for this formal academic endeavor. RESULTS Of the 1006 published studies identified from chosen databases, a total of 241 papers were included and had passed the stringent criteria set for the scoping review process. Basic characteristics of the reviewed studies were quantitative survey type with about 101-500 size range of respondents, utilizing non-patients and adults for participants which were common and randomly chosen from selected population, and most research activities were self-funded. Four major research themes were found including a list of research limitations. CONCLUSIONS This systematic scoping review identified a wide range of results characterizing the different studies that qualified using pre-determined inclusion-exclusion criteria. Though of increasing publication volume in the past decade, most researches done were quantitative survey type whose themes seemed to show no drastic difference or change from the previous years of output. More variety in research themes would further improve the over-all quality of mental health publications.
