I am contemplating using this space to journal again and wanted to get a sense of who still keeps up with lj, it has been quite some time for me...

I am that person who comes on and says they haven't updated in so long, blah blah, and then you never hear from them again. Posting more is good in theory but has not worked thus far in practice...

08:52 am - Our house is a very very very fine house
We have decided to put our house on the market this spring. One of my favorite things to do is look at houses, so of course I am thrilled and the best part is that Amber is too- did not take any coaxing, as some of my grand plans do. She is very baby focused right now, which is the real motivation. The bedrooms in our house now are on different levels which would make it hard to have babies here. We are also not exactly thrilled with the school system and we are very tired of living just over the line from Providence. We want TREES! It is going to be a hectic few months getting the house ready but the reward of a better designed house at the end is highly motivating!
( Running to-do listCollapse )
P.S. The Baby Daddy is home safe from his semester in Egypt :)

07:11 am - Which dress do you like?

I have looked at 1200+ dresses and these are so far the only two that I like.
Which dress do you like better?
the first- all white with accents
the second- white with red sash
what do you like/dislike about either dress?
Do you think it is OK for Amber to dress shop with me as long as she doesn't see the dress on?

06:32 am - Logan is grounded and the neighbors are on my sh*t list
At 10pm last night, after we had been calling Logan to come home for 5 hours, my neighbor yelled at me to come get my cat out of her house. I apologized profusely while she continued to yell & swear- stating to get him out before he 'pissed and shit all over the place'. She had left her door open while working in the yard earlier in the day and he had wandered in. Although I feel bad that my cat strolled into her house and made himself at home, it does not give her the right to yell and swear at me. We take care of our animals. Our cats are indoor cats that manage to get out sometimes when we are coming or going. Logan is so big now that he can push on the window until it opens- he is hard to contain. I do not know why she did not ask us earlier to get him, we were very obviously looking for him. Despite the fact that there are outdoor cats & strays on the street, our indoor cats that get out occasionally get blamed for pooping in their sandbox, etc.- it irks me! Don't leave your door open, get a cover for your sandbox, and stop targeting my animals. She is lucky that we do not live in the city where a jumbo rat could have wandered in!
Yes, I am frustrated. I never talk to people like that. I think the thing that bothers me the most is that we have always had a friendly relationship with them.

06:00 am - It isn't cute!
One of my biggest pet peeves is becoming when I tell people that I work at the Girl Scouts and get the reply- that is sooo cute! Yup, I deal with statistics regularly and need to calculate market share and retention... wicked cute! Yes I know I sound bitter but I don't get it. I became an executive before I was 27, what do you do? Oh you're a receptionist, how adorable!
I have been at the Girl Scouts for a little over and year now and I love it! One of my favorite aspects of the job is community collaborating, it can be challenging but there is so much potential there. I started a middle school program that is all about self awareness and self esteem in West Warwick (a very poor city) and have had 35 girls join since October...that is typically unheard of at that age becasue Girl Scouts is perceived as just crafts and cookies a lot of the time and uncool in middle school.
I love working for a national organization that empowers girls,(whether taken seriously or not) at this point I would not want to do anything else!

06:21 am - 2007
We had a great 2007! Amber and I are happier than ever- this year we were able to (consistently) distance ourselves from the people and things that have caused us drama in the past. We have a great group of people around us and have grown a kick-ass chosen family :) We love our jobs and are both making steps now toward future career goals. I finally got my butt in gear this year and took some classes and am taking more this semester. We have completed so many projects in the house, now it is just finishing touches like crown molding. I got in touch with my sister after 17 years, which answered so many questions and filled a void. Last but not least, I fulfilled a life-long goal/dream of becoming a foster mom. I will post some goals for 2008 when I have more time...
Hope you all had a wonderful new year!

While on vacation, we acquired a Wii. It is everything I dreamed it would be, lol. We're not really into video games, prior to the Wii the only game systems we owned were the original Nintendo and Atari. But really who wouldn't love a game where you shoot Rabbid cartoon bunnies with plungers as they try to hit you with spatulas and sausages?
No worries friends- I have left the house since owning the Wii...well at least a little anyway...
