The Pentateuch is the beginning of the whole revelation of God. The uniting theme is that God is ... more The Pentateuch is the beginning of the whole revelation of God. The uniting theme is that God is the ruler of creation and history, and for his glory he is breaking into chaos to establish his rule over everything, through appointing a people he is committed to, set apart for reestablishment of personal relationship. From the story of creation to the preparation for entering the promised land, God is faithful and consistent, superior to the gods of the nations, and he reveals himself in a way that his chosen people could understand. It is because of who God reveals himself to be in the Pentateuch that he deserves the worship and obedience of Israel, and of us.
