This study assesses the relationship between accounting information and equities performance of q... more This study assesses the relationship between accounting information and equities performance of quoted financial firms in Nigeria. Ex-post facto research design was adopted with fifty-one (51) quoted financial firms as the population and the sampled size of the study was forty-four (44) using Krejcie and Morgan 1970 table with aid of Judgmental sampling technique. The study period spanned from 2012 to 2020 while a random effect regression test was used to test the hypotheses formulated with the aid of STATA 13.0 software. The study results reveals among others that, debt to equity has a positive and statistically significant relationship with the market share price of quoted financial firms and asset base has a positive and statistically significant relationship with market share price of Nigeria quoted financial firms. The study recommended among others that firms should try to finance their investment activities with debt-equity and consider either debt or equity as a last option. This implies that the study strongly recommended that corporate firms in Nigeria should use more debt-equity capital than either debt or equity capital in financing their business activities to enhance equities performance and improve Nigeria's Economy.

This could be attributed to why a good understanding of the stock price of financial firms in which investment will be made is vital to investors. This study assesses the relationship between information contents of annual financial reports and equities performance of quoted financial firms in Nigeria. Ex-post facto research design was adopted with fifty-one (51) quoted financial firms as the population and the sampled size of the study was forty-four (44) using Krejcie and Morgan 1970 table with aid of Judgmental sampling technique. The study period spanned from 2012 to 2020 while a random effect regression test was used to test the hypotheses formulated with the aid of STATA 13.0 software. The study results reveals among others that, book value per share has a positive and statistically significant relationship with the market share price of quoted financial firms and cash flow from operation has a positive and statistically significant relationship with market share price of Nigeria quoted financial firms. The study recommended among others that investors should consider using net book value per share for investment decisions when earnings are negative since book value per share compensates for negative earnings. Investors should use book values per share of equity to evaluate firm's performance.

The study examined the effect of leverage on profitability of Information and Communication Techn... more The study examined the effect of leverage on profitability of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) companies listed on the Nigerian Stock Exchange. The study adopted ex post facto research design. Sample of the study was made of five out of the eight ICT companies listed on the Nigerian Stock Exchange. Secondary source of data was collected from annual reports of the companies for the period 2012 to 2020. The data was analyzed using multiple regression analysis. The results show that there is no significant relationship between total debt ratio and return on assets of the ICT companies listed on the Nigerian Stock Exchange and that debt-equity-ratio has no significant relationship with return on assets. Therefore, the study recommended that Companies in the ICT sector should watch carefully their continued use of leverage in their operations and that management of ICT companies should carefully monitor their debt to equity ratio to ensure that the interest of creditors and the owners is always kept in harmony in the overall interest of the survival of the company.

The biggest motivating element for investing in a company's stock is the dividend. Dividend payme... more The biggest motivating element for investing in a company's stock is the dividend. Dividend payments, on the other hand, are beneficial to shareholders since they make investors happy. However, paying a dividend reduces the internal funding needed to invest in golden prospects, slowing the firm's growth and lowering the value of the retained stock. Therefore, the study aimed at examining corporate financial needs and dividend policy of banks in Nigeria. A descriptive research design was adopted to empirically analyse the banks' financial needs and dividend policy using United Bank for Africa (UBA) and First Bank of Nigeria (FBN) plc target samples. The two banks were selected based on best of judgment sampling technique. The hypotheses were tested using Pearson Correlation and Linear Regression. The findings show that; dividends pay-out have negative relationship with financial needs of the banks, retain earnings does not have significance positive effect on the banks' capitalization drive and dividends pay-out have significant positive effect on the shares prices of the bank. It was recommending that; the level of debts should be reduce to at least, 65% of their total assets in order to increase their profit after tax, the banks should not majorly depend on retain earning for their capitalization drive and they should maintain their current level of dividend payout.

This study assessed the moderating effect of audit quality on value relevance of accounting infor... more This study assessed the moderating effect of audit quality on value relevance of accounting information of listed firms on the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE). The Ex-post facto research design was used with the population of 192 and sample size of 58 firms covering the period of 2012 to 2020. Thus, empirical model was estimated using Ordinary Least Square (OLS) regression technique. The results of this study revealed that there is a significant positive effect between book value per Share and market Share Price of listed firms in Nigeria. The study recommends that all listed companies in Nigeria should prepare and disclose additional information on the financial accounting indicators used for investment decisions alongside with the mandatory financial statements. This is expected to provide clearer information about the dividend per share and financial performances of companies to equity share investors.

This could be attributed to why a good understanding of stock price in financial firms in which investment will be made is vital to investors. This study assesses the relationship between information contents of annual financial reports and equities performance of quoted financial firms in Nigeria. Ex-post facto research design was adopted with fifty-one (51) quoted financial firms as the population and the sampled size of the study was forty-four (44) using Krejcie and Morgan 1970 table with aid of Judgmental sampling technique. The study period spanned from 2012 to 2021 while a random effect regression test was used to test the hypotheses formulated with the aid of STATA 13.0 software. The study results reveal among others that, book value per share has a positive and statistically significant relationship with the market share price of quoted financial firms and earnings per share has a positive and statistically significant relationship with market share price of Nigeria quoted financial firms. The study recommended among others that investors should consider using net book value per share for investment decisions when earnings are negative since book value per share compensates for negative earnings. Investors should use book values per share of equity to evaluate firm’s performance.
