Established in October 1984 as a robotics team within Hyundai Heavy Industries, HD Hyundai Robotics became Korea’s leading manufacturer of industrial and LCD glass handling robots through its development of various technologies and products including its own robot controllers. On April 1, 2017, HD Hyundai Robotics celebrated the construction of a smart factory where robots produce robots, followed by the foundation of its Chinese corporation in 2019 to propel the firm’s entry into the Chinese market. Through these efforts, the company created a foundation to expand its presence in the global market. Going forward, we at HD Hyundai Robotics will continue our efforts to improve product quality and reduce costs to provide customers with more competitive offerings, and lead Korea’s robotics industry by developing new business areas such as collaborative robots and service robots. - Beverage Can Unwrapping Automation: HD Hyundai Robotics' Cutting-Edge Solution Have you ever considered automating the unwrapping process for beverage cans stacked dozens of layers high? HD Hyundai Robotics provides a groundbreaking solution, enabling robots to effortlessly unwrap and remove wraps from towering stacks of beverage cans, reaching several meters in height. The wide reach and precise control of HD Hyundai Robotics' robots are key highlights of this innovative system. 4-Step Automation Process: 1) Loading: Materials are fed via conveyors. 2) Cutting & Unwrapping: Side cuts are made while a turntable synchronizes the gripper for unwrapping. 3) Cutting & Debanding: Bands are cut and safely discharged into collection bins. 4) Discharging: Materials are moved to the next process. - Recently, while reorganizing some of our video archives, I stumbled upon footage from many years ago. HD Hyundai Robotics has been in the robotics business for over 40 years, and considering our history, it’s incredible to think about the wealth of materials we must have accumulated over the years. Below is an example of one of our robots in action at a mushroom factory, handling processes within a food production line. It’s quite a unique case, don’t you think? Many people might associate HD Hyundai Robotics primarily with welding and assembly solutions, but we hope you’ll find it interesting to see our robots at work in food production environments as well! - On December 23, HD Hyundai Robotics held the 'HD Hyundai RobotMan Award Ceremony' and 'Management Status Briefing' at the Asan Hall on the first floor of GRC in Seongnam at South Korea. The event was designed to recognize the achievements of outstanding employees, share the current management status and business goals, and facilitate an 'Open Talk' where employees and department heads could freely exchange ideas. The 'HD Hyundai Robot Award' was presented to employees who have contributed to achieving the company's business goals by embodying HD Hyundai Robotics' core values of challenge, innovation, respect, and safety. Award recipients included Manager Yang-gi Jang for securing a large project, and Engineers Jong-ryon Park, In-seok Kim, and Jeong-min Park for developing the Hi6’s Rear plate welding function. During the management briefing, the company's 2024 performance and 2025 business plan and goals were shared, with discussions on key performance drivers and areas needing improvement. The session also outlined the business plans and vision for 2025, clarifying the company's future direction. The final segment, 'Open Talk,' featured a relaxed Q&A session with CEO Wan-soo Kim and seven department heads, where they engaged in conversations with employees from various ranks. The discussion, which lasted about 1.5 hours, covered topics such as business strategy and the aspirations of each department head. CEO Wan-soo Kim expressed, "This year, HD Hyundai Robotics has achieved remarkable growth, proving that we are a company with great potential." He added, "All of this is thanks to the hard work and unity of our employees, and I am very pleased that we can look forward to similar growth next year." Employees shared their thoughts on the event, stating, "The session strengthened trust within the organization through genuine communication and allowed us to align with the management's vision for the business." They also mentioned, "This experience served as an opportunity to create a healthier organizational culture."
