Lithuanian writings is one of the most important sources of the history of the Lithuanian language. The language of old writings can be analysed at various levels, e.g. phonetic, morphological, lexical, or syntactic. Most researchers focus their studies on the lexis of old writings. The dictionaries and the lexical registers of individual texts are being published, and a digitalized historical Lithuanian dictionary has become available online. Such books and dictionaries are very useful for morphological studies, however, due to the quite complex mechanism of material selection, these studies are still too time consuming. This study deals with the morphology of denominatives, i.e. features of the inflection of nouns and adjectives, in two parts of Kėdainiai publications (1653) commonly known as the Knyga nobažnystės (KN, ‘Book of Devotions’). The KN language is based on the western Aukštaitian Šiauliai dialect, which is considered to be the centr...

A logical data model was developed and implemented within the Microsoft Access database management system (DBMS). All the words of two parts of the Knyga Nobažnystės were entered into the database. An engine was created for morphological (inflectional) data selection, so that the words can now be selected by any assigned property or set of properties. Such a database serves as a tool for data sorting, selection and correction, as well as for text and index media storage. It allows the researcher to deal with various linguistic problems, such as noun stem alternation, authorship of texts etc. in an efficient, quick and accurate manner.

Apžvelgiamos unikalios paradigmos bei nusistovėję kaitybos tipai. Aptariamas kamienų įvairavimas ir jo priežastys, atskirų KN dalių autorių kalbos skirtybės. PAGRINDINIAI ŽODŽIAI: senieji raštai, "Knyga nobažnystės", būdvardžių kaityba, linksniavimo tipai, kaitybos kamienai.

is to select, collect, systematise, and make accessible to the scientific community the archive of the language and the ethnic culture of
the Curonian Spit. Here, the tongue of the fishermen of the Curonian Spit is referred to as the Kursenieku language and is identified
as one of the European languages rapidly going extinct. Its native speakers are WWII refugees from the Curonian Spit, people of
advanced age, dispersed widely across Europe, not living in a single compact territory, and who have not transferred their language
to their children’s generation. The material collected in the archive is useful not only for linguistic but other types of research as well.
The homeland for Kursenieki, the Curonian Spit, spans the territory of two countries (the Republic of Lithuania and the Russian
Federation), while the entire peninsula is on the UNESCO list, due to its unique cultural landscape. As a result, the autochthonous
language is one of the assets that most require protection, being an all-encompassing instrument for the expression and creation of
culture. The article aims to lay out key aspects of the development of the Kursenieki tongue, the structure of the archive collected
and systematised, and the results so achieved.
