It is not prevalent in Kerala even though there are a few case reports. Recently, a focus of indigenous leishmaniasis is located in the north- east part of Kerala. We are also reporting probably indigenous cases along with those contracted from Middle- east countries.

In the majority, pregnancy has a beneficial effect on the activity of acne, and this is through the sebosuppressive effect of estrogens. In a small number of cases, there is a flare-up of acne requiring active intervention, especially if scarring is a threat. Acne may also appear for the first time during pregnancy. There are reports of women experiencing acne only during pregnancies. If an acne patient during active treatment conceives then careful assessment of teratogenicity issues needs to be carried out and the safety to carry the pregnancy to term needs to be determined. There are times when a medical termination of pregnancy may be a safer option.

In the present study the frequency of various skin manifestations among HIV infected / AIDS patients are noted. Generalised pruritus and dry skin were the common manifestations encountered. There was a significant absence of Kaposi's sarcoma, multi-dermatomal herpes zoster and oral hairy leukoplakia. A prominent hyperpigmented band on finger nails was seen.

The keyhole of the comedone extractor is centered over the blackhead and firm downward pressure, perpendicular to the skin surface, is exerted until the contents are extruded. In certain situations, comedone extraction may require assistance with a surgical blade (No. 11 BP), laser puncture, superficial electrodessication, or a suction machine.[2] Good cosmetic result ensues from this procedure. Comedones over prominent bony areas such as zygoma and forehead are much easier to express by this technique rather than in the middle of the cheek.[3]
