Food is an integral part of a tourist's travel experience. Tourists have acquired a multidimensio... more Food is an integral part of a tourist's travel experience. Tourists have acquired a multidimensional approach to augment their food experiences. For tourists, various dimensions that determine overall satisfaction through food experiences are local gastronomic offerings, dining atmosphere, food quality and price, with food quality being the most significant element. The present study aims to examine the impact of attributes of Indian cuisine on overall satisfaction of the foreign tourists visiting India. A total of 432 foreign tourists who visited India responded to a self-administered questionnaire. To test the research hypothesis, the methodology of stepwise multiple regression models was used. The findings of the study reveal that fast and efficient food service of the restaurants, sufficient portion size of food items and value for money are the attributes that facilitate memorable culinary experience. Apart from this aroma, taste and flavor of traditional food items also creates a memorable positive food experience. The study also concludes that all these attributes significantly contribute towards achieving overall satisfaction based on the culinary experience of foreign tourists.

Indian cuisine has a history that is 5000-year old that encompasses different cultures that are i... more Indian cuisine has a history that is 5000-year old that encompasses different cultures that are interconnected in a way that leads to cuisine diversity. Indian delicacies are acknowledged all over the world for their taste, different flavors and diversity. The roots of Indian cuisine are deeply imbedded into Indian history because over a passage of time, each region has developed a unique set of dishes using a wide range of spices, unique ingredients combined with unique cooking styles. The motive of this study is to explore whether foreign tourist who visit India really believe that Indian cuisine is attractive or not. The results of the study revealed that there was a significant positive increase in the perceptions of foreign tourist after trying Indian cuisine. Variables that had positive higher perceptions were rich taste and flavor of food items, positive food experience, value for money, variety in menu, visual attractiveness, sufficient portion sizes, use of fresh ingredients and moderate price of food items. The statistical analysis inferred that the foreign tourists do consider Indian cuisine as tourist attraction.

This study aims to analyse the nutritional needs of spiritual tourists visiting International Soc... more This study aims to analyse the nutritional needs of spiritual tourists visiting International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISCKON) centers in India. The study objectives are determining the nutritional requirements of spiritual visitors; analyzing the diet menu of ISKCON centers to meet the standard diet requirements; and studying the cause-and-effect relation of Satvik Aahar (ISCKON diet) on the physical and mental well-being of spiritual visitors. Data was collected from ISKCON centers in North India. The analysis was done using the Harris-Benedict equation to calculate total energy expenditure (TEE). The study found practice of "Satvik Aahar" is integral to the diet of ISKCON visitors, providing adequate nutrition for spiritual practices. Ayurveda and intermittent fasting (Vrat) are the strategies for bringing spiritual travellers back into balance with their thoughts and beliefs. Research limitations include time and budget constraints. The study through light on the physiology of pilgrims and create bridge between food and spirituality, providing value for future researchers.

It is fourth largest transportation system in the world and it is also the largest employment generator, which employees more than 13 lakhs employees & during the year 2015, it carries 8.101 billion passengers. From past few decades the need and demand of customers has changed significantly and this is reflected in all sectors of economy who have transformed themselves from mere a service provider to customer oriented service providers. Indian Railway is not an exception. To keep up with the changing need and demand of customers, Indian Railway established Indian Railway Catering and Transport Corporation (IRCTC) in 1999. It is a public sector venture under Ministry of Railway which professionally manages hospitality and catering services on & off stations, on trains and global reservation system. Since then it is taking consistent steps towards improving service quality of IRCTC food outlets. Today it has over 200 food outlets. The present paper is an attempt to determine service quality through assessment of expectation and perception of the customers visiting IRCTC food outlets. This research also uses modified questionnaire based upon DINESERV model to study the difference between perceived and expected service quality.

But the thought is more broader the smart cities use information and communication technologies (ICT) for more intelligent and efficient use of resources, resulting in cost and energy savings, improved service delivery and quality of life and address environmental issues. As per Innovation cities index (2015) report Vienna, Toronto, Paris, NewYork, London, Tokyo, Berlin, Copenhegen, HongKong & Barcelona are top ten smart cities. All these cities, also has one common dimension, that is, they attract large number of tourists & portrait themselves as smart tourist destinations. India started talking about smart cities just few years back & concept of developing smart tourism destination is still at infant stage. These challenges are faced due to number of reasons, which include government policies, competition, market size and human resource related issues. Over the time, the Human Resource related issues have emerged as big challenge for Indian hotel industry. Though there are many challenges but employee turnover is one of the major challenge that the hospitality industry facing. Deloiltte research team conducted a Comparison Trends Survey (2013-14)}, which shows that the average rate of employee turnover is 13% across the country in hospitality. According to the report of National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC )(2011)has projected human resource requirement in hotel industry in India will be 27, 72000 by the year 2022. Housekeeping department is considered to be the backbone of hotel operations. Further, the review of same report suggest that the share of housekeeping department in total H.R requirement will be 6,34000 by the year 2022, which is highest among all the other departments of hotel.

Today it has wide variety of hotels & many more are coming. A report published by Confederation of India Industry (CII) (2012) shows that Delhi alone has 288 registered hotels, which account 12% of total registered hotels within the country ranging from budget to five star. Despite of remarkable growth in hotel sector, dealing with Human Resource issues is a problem. The present study focuses on employee turnover issues in housekeeping departments of hotels located in New Delhi & tries to find out various reasons of employee turnover.

As a result the hospitality sector has tremendous employment opportunities in hotel sector in India. According to report of National Skill Development Corporation 2011, the requirement of human resource in hotel industry in India will be 27, 72000 by the year 2022. But, on the other hand the hotel industry is suffering from a number of problems these are market size, competition, government policies and human resource related issues. Employee turnover is also one of them. Comparison Trend Survey-2013-14 finds that the average rate of employee turnover in hospitality industry is 13%, which indicates that after having so much opportunity the industry is still suffering from the problem of employee turnover. The present study focuses on the issue of employee turnover in housekeeping department in the hotel industry of Delhi and Rajasthan & tries to find out the various reasons and remedies of employee turnover. roles and/or new emerging challenges to exceed or better meet the career and personal demands and growth. It helps an
individual in increase of confidence and gains some sense of happiness (constructive) that comes through achievement and
learning something new (skills/trades/tracts/tricks) that ultimately increases self worth.
Today, every sector of economy whether organized or unorganized; governmental or semi-governmental, public or private
the need of training is essential as new working experience (more or less) provides to do best at the job and/ or to ready for
new roles either in current job and/or for future endeavor. Hospitality industry absorbs every new recruit by providing on
the job to every students coming from various institutes either as travel guides, airlines, tourism marketing and sales,
tourism operations, operational areas in standard chain hotels and restaurants etc. They learn practically in that
environment by experiencing real life situations, events and occurrences, problems, pressure, fuss, people etc that helps
them to understand their job roles and environment very well. It provides timely opportunity for SWOT analysis, understand
all ifs and buts, pro’s and con’s (because and consequences better to say opportunities) that all helps an individual for her/
his career planning. The present paper is an attempt to compare the opinion of pre & post on the job training among
Institute of hotel management (IHM), Kurukshetra and Kurukshetra University under graduate students. The paper focus on
students’ opine before & after training in front office & housekeeping.

With this growth, the level of competition will also grow therefore it is very important to know motives of Indian guests, while selecting hotels. As the importance of Indian economy is growing globally, the world is also interested in knowing the needs of Indian tourists, so that they can customize their product accordingly. rose in 2010-2011 to 102438 rooms. Thought the growth on the hotel industry is robust and rosy but at the same time the
industry is also facing many challenges the employee turnover is also one of them. Federation of Hotel & Restaurant
Associations of India (FHRAI) (2001) survey report clearly states the problem of high turnover in this sector. The present
paper is an honest effort to identify various causes of high turnover in the Indian hotel industry focusing the capital New
Delhi. The entire research revolves around three major objectives that are to investigate employees‟ opinion on various
causes for the high employee turnover in hotel industry; to examine consequences of the high employee turnover in Indian
hotel industry; to study different turnover reduction techniques and increase employee retention in the hotels.

Today, large numbers of international hotel brands are willing to invest in India. According to Fact for you magazine (18) by the end of 2013 approximately 300 new hotels will come with 50,000 hotel rooms. With this growth, the level of competition will also grow therefore it is very important to know motives of Indian guests, while selecting hotels. A motivation is the "driving force within individuals that impels them to action" Schiffman, Bednall, Watson and Kanuk (25). These motives vary according to cultural backgrounds. As the importance of Indian economy is growing globally, the world is also interested in knowing the needs of Indian tourists, so that they can customize their product accordingly. Keeping the same concept in mind the hotels are not exception. The present paper is a sincere effort to study various motives that Indian takes into account while selecting hotels for stay.

Hotel industry in India is witnessing a number of challenges at domestic & global level. These challenges are faced due to number of reasons, which include government policies, competition, market size and human resource related issues. Over the time, the Human Resource related issues have emerged as big challenge for Indian hotel industry. Though there are many challenges but employee turnover is one of the major challenge that the hospitality industry facing. Deloiltte research team conducted a Comparison Trends Survey (2013-14)}, which shows that the average rate of employee turnover is 13% across the country in hospitality. According to the report of National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC )(2011)has projected human resource requirement in hotel industry in India will be 27, 72000 by the year 2022. Housekeeping department is considered to be the backbone of hotel operations. Further, the review of same report suggest that the share of housekeeping department in total H.R requirement will be 6,34000 by the year 2022, which is highest among all the other departments of hotel.
New Delhi, being an administrative capital of India is always a “melting pot of diverse culture”, it is a city with a rich historical past & a world class international airport makes it act as a “Gateway to India”. Today it has wide variety of hotels & many more are coming. A report published by Confederation of India Industry (CII) (2012) shows that Delhi alone has 288 registered hotels, which account 12% of total registered hotels within the country ranging from budget to five star. Despite of remarkable growth in hotel sector, dealing with Human Resource issues is a problem. The present study focuses on employee turnover issues in housekeeping departments of hotels located in New Delhi & tries to find out various reasons of employee turnover.
