I am a legal and political philosopher, who has published on distributive justice as well as various applied topics including climate justice, global justice, intergenerational justice, and transitional justice in English and Japanese for many years. The subjects of my recent publications also include moral issues surrounding artificial intelligence and existential risk. At Kyoto University, I hold the chair of the Laboratory of Global Environmental Policy. Beyond the campus, I have served as the President of the Japanese section of the International Association for Philosophy of Law and Social Philosophy (IVRJ; 2018 to 2022) and the President of the Public Policy Studies Association Japan (PPSAJ; 2024 to the present).
