Deibert) share my story of discovering the relationship between reflexivity, autoethnography, and yoga through a meaningful experience. Yoga has been an important influence on my physical and mental well-being for over a decade, but I did not consider its implications in my academic life until I was asked to write a reflexive assignment for a course. The task was exploring who I am in connection to my master’s thesis project; the challenge was finding a starting point for my reflexive journey of self-discovery. Frustrated by the latter, I turned to yoga for refuge; instead of escaping the assignment, I found that my quest for self-exploration was intertwined with my yoga practice. The purpose of this paper is to delve further into my experience with yoga as a medium for developing reflexivity. Using autoethnography, I share my journey of developing critical thinking through a narrative related to my yoga class experience. Linking my research to my yoga practi...

Diversity of Research in Health Journal, Jun 21, 2017

The objective of the initial phase was to determine if there were any recommendations that were stated in more than one of the evaluated commissioned reports, that spanned the 50-year timeframe. The reports were selected through a review of the literature and in consultation with experts in OHS and mining. A multi-stage analysis was conducted on the recommendations, and identified 6 overlapping themes, and 49 sets of specific overlaps. In the second phase, a seeded analysis using a qualitative data analysis software, was completed to understand how safety culture was discussed in the reports. This was accomplished by completing a review of the literature to define safety culture, and to build the dictionary, which was seeded into the software. The analysis highlighted the use of various terms for safety culture throughout the 50-year history, with a particular emphasis on the fact that the term safety culture was not directly referenced in the selected reports until 1997.

his opinion on mixed-gender labs, while attending a President's
lunch at the World Conference of Science Journalists:
Let me tell you about my trouble with girls. Three things
happen when they are in the lab: You fall in love with them,
they fall in love with you, and when you criticize them they cry
[69].
In the days following his statement, the hashtag #DistractinglySexy
trended on Twitter. The purpose of this study was to investigate
how Twitter users interpreted the Sir Tim Hunt speech, and how
they represented their message through visual media on Twitter.
The software program Hashtracking was used to gather 58,969
tweets that contained an image from the #DistractinglySexy
hashtag. Content analysis was used to analyze the images
collected, and a codebook was developed through an adaptation of
the ‘Draw-a-Scientist Test’ (DAST), a test initially designed to
reveal children’s attitudes and beliefs about science through the use
of stereotypical features. To enable human coding of such a large
data set, a purposeful sample of 3,648 images was extracted for
analysis. Intercoder reliability scores ranged from 0.84 to 1.0, all
within the acceptable range, according to Cohen’s Kappa. The
results of this study indicated that users of the hashtag
predominately portrayed themselves posed in personal protective
equipment, in a laboratory setting. This study contributes to social
media literature, by illustrating how this medium was used to create
counter narratives that combat and highlight the challenges women
in STEM face.
