Conversio Virium LJ Community: Columbia University's and NYC's student BDSM education group Hello fellow Leather U folk:This is a brief message to let anyone who's radar this will cause a blip on know that Conversio Virium, Columbia University and New York City's only current student BDSM education group, is trying to organize semi-regular social outings just for fun. We're thinking coffee shop get-togethers, bar nights, maybe the occasional "let's totally take over a restaurant" dinners, or whatever else we come up with. For instance, a bunch of CVers and their friends hit the movies to see Sweeney Todd, because just think of the possible kink innuendoes with all those knives on screen. Also, evidently, Johnny Depp!Anyway, as a means to organize such things, we've got our very own Conversio Virium LiveJournal community now that you are invited to join or watch. It is an informal group started by members and has no official affiliation with Conversio Virium beyond being a member-moderated forum for group socialization.The next event, a bar night (for those members and guests 21 and over, of course), will be tonight, Tuesday the 29th, at O'Connells Pub on Broadway at 108th Street at 8 PM. looking for ideas Hey all, hope you're all well. Over in Worcester our group had its first meeting of the year and it looks like a good bunch. Next week's meeting is sort of an into type thing, and we're just kind of going to do a kink vocab lesson. We want to make it interactive and fun though, of course, 'cause thats what we like to do. So if anyone has suggestions of things to include or a way to make it fun (the best i can currently come up with is something where people have cards of the words and have to match them or something...) i could REALLY use 'em! sooo, help a college group out eh? So, say you're running a little kink group at your school. You're a little hesitant to do demos, but willing if enough people would show up to prove there was a signifigant interest in the topic (and reason to take some risk). You have people who are interested in the group, but only a handful still show up currently. What kind of activities would you run?How would you draw people to come back?How do you encourage people to become active members?How do you let new people know its a good group? Be useful and support kinky college groups!I was hoping I could take you up on your offer of letters of support. The investigation into Cuffs has gone on two weeks longer than I was initially led to believe it would go, and if it isn't concluded by Friday February 6th it will forceus to cancel another meeting. The people it would be best to contact are the Director of Judicial Affairs Bethany Schuttinga (bschutti@iastate.edu), Dean of Students Pete Englin (penglin@iastate.edu), and Vice President of Student Affairs Thomas Hill (tomhill@iastate.edu).
