Notwithstanding the benefits suggested by remote working, e.g. saving on commuting time and expenses working from home generates numerous challenges for employees, including the blurred line between the roles of working and private life. While, previous studies have demonstrated that work-life balance, which refers to the ability of every individual to coordinate work and family obligations successfully, has a significant impact on employee well-being and organisational performance, ways for maintaining the balance under crisis remain underexplored. OBJECTIVE: Trying to narrow the gap, the paper aims at revealing the antecedents of work-life balance while working remotely during the COVID-19 pandemic. METHODS: A quantitative survey has been conducted in Lithuania (pilot study). The data have been collected from the employees w...

The paper gives an analysis of the change in the concept of an organization, defines a paradigm of a green organization, and formulates the most important features of a green organization. Special attention is devoted to the assessment of specific components of a green organization. With an aim of making an analysis of the concept of a green organization, while refining the characteristic features of a green organization, the methods of comparative analysis and synthesis as well as abstrahation have been applied. A new modern approach to personal development is associated with learning and development; health, wellness and safe workplaces; human resources measurement, reporting and financial management and empowering competencies/individual skills, comprising critical thinking and analysis; technology knowledge; research capabilities; quantitative and critical legal thinking capabilities. For the purpose of identifying the relevance of personal competencies in professional activities, an expert evaluation of the energy and environmental sectors was conducted. Summary results of the research of personal competencies in professional activities is presented in an expert evaluation model, distinguishing between the most significant and the least significant components. determine the transformations of consumer behaviour in the context of sustainable development needs. The article
describes the dilemma of consumption and sustainability, since the increasing scale of consumption, as one of the
major purposes of the well-being of the society, organisations and the state, is also one of the major risk factors
to the environment, equality and health. That is why the article provides an overview of the influence of
consumption on ecology, health, social aspects and inequality, also discussing the positions of the consumer, the
company and the government, as well as their opportunities to transform the unsustainable consumer behaviour
into sustainable consumer behaviour. The authors believe that a framework, based on interdisciplinary
understanding and collaborative knowledge, is needed to identify and relate research questions, theories, and
conclusions. Therefore, it must be a result of an integrated attitude, because efficient advancement in the field of
sustainable and productive consumption may be achieved only by joint effort of producers and consumers and by
including the interested groups of the consumption and production system. Such cooperation would promote
changes in the consumer and producer behaviour.

respective actions with regard to the components of sustainable development. Since sustainable consumption is related to producer
and consumer positions, extra investment in more environmentally friendly and less polluting technologies, observance of fair-trade
stipulations, and the search for compromises between the implementation of the goals of businesses and securing quality of life for
society are very important. An analysis of the scientific literature and the provisions of the European commission and international
organisations reveals that the three components of sustainable development, economic, social and environmental, are highlighted.
Responsible organisations that pursue the creation of a green image based on a sustainable business concept are producers of goods
and suppliers of services in line with the needs of the responsible consumer. For this purpose, they are in a continuous search for harmony between economic growth, environmental protection, social justice and the consolidation of the rule of law, so that the balance
between progress and the preservation of natural resources for future generations is maintained.

Continuous monitoring of the changes witnessed in the area of consumption in different countries ... more Continuous monitoring of the changes witnessed in the area of
consumption in different countries or regions is ongoing via collection
and scrutiny of the relevant data on the extent of consumption of
products and behaviour of consumers. Sustainable development poses
challenges to the development of the EU economy aiming to foster sustainable, balanced, and smooth economic activities, protection of
environment and improvement of its quality, and upturn in the living
standards and life quality. Sustainable development-related topics are
dealt with in relevant documents of the EU and governmental
resolutions of individual countries. For the purpose, national sustainable
development strategies have been elaborated with priorities therein
targeted to the issues of climate change and clean energy production,
sustainable transport, consumption and production, preservation and
management of natural resources, public health, social inclusion and
demographics, as well as the problems of migration and poverty.
Constantly growing number of social economic subjects in the EU
stimulates scientific researches in a variety of areas to cover the changes
in public and private sector, pertaining to three key elements –
environment protection, economy and social well-being. Sustainable
Development Goals / SDG foreseen to be achieved until the year 2030
are directed towards human well-being to encompass living standards,
safety, changes in goods and services, potential of their consumption
and other changes of the society, concerning social connections, values
and the like.

reference sources justify the relevancy of competencies acquired in the pursued activities. A new modern
approach towards the enabling competencies/individual skills is associated with the capabilities comprising
critical thinking and analysis, technology knowledge
and research skills, as well as quantitative and critical
legal thinking skills. For the purpose of identifying the
relevance of enabling competencies/individual skills
in the activities pursued by energy and environmental
protection sectors, expert evaluation of the energy and
environmental sectors was conducted. The indices of
non-parametric Kendall’s W test and H0hypothesis test
have indicated either good or very good compatibility of
expert evaluations. The evaluated relevance of enabling
competencies/individual skills via ranking method in
the activities of energy and environmental sectors have
indicated critical thinking and analysis to be the most
relevant ones though research skills and critical legal
thinking were ranked the second and technology knowledge skills were the third, and finally, quantitative skills,
appeared to be the least relevant. The most relevant
enabling competencies/individual skills highlighted by
experts as the most relevant ones, concern, to a larger extent, the performance of a specific work, group of
works or functional area works, which are of topical relevance in the area of energy and environmental sectors.
