Somewhere in New Jersey, a young Glenn Danzig fan is masturbating to this film.
There was a time in my formative DVD purchasing years when I had way more disposable income that I would buy pretty much any new horror films that got released. I am now wiser (sort of) and a little more selective about what gets added to my collection, so I am not sure how this one slipped through the cracks. This is a pretty lousy anthology flick with a prospective doctor reviewing the strange cases of a number of inmates at a mental hospital. The problem is that none of the stories are really any good. Usually there are at least one or two segments in these that are at least weirdly watchable, but except for the final story, none…
Dr. Tristian Mackenzie (Elissa Dowling) begins her first day at the Silverdale Psychiatric Hospital, which aims to look after and rehabilitate the criminally insane. The movie is split out into unique storylines involving specific patients, with a common theme in that in each case they speak of the appearance of a 'Boogeyman', and it is up to Dr. Mackenzie to determine if they are fictitious or if there is any truth behind the elaborate claims. The worst failing of this overlong movie is that despite the creative opportunities that horror short stories present, there are barely any here that are in any way memorable, and there really is very little to see here.
pretty dull anthology. none of the stories had much life to them, or had any great gore or anything to make them stand out. the second last one had a reasonably nice looking gothish girl.
far too long.
Uneven anthology that runs far too long for its own good. You know how everyone of the stories will go within the first minute or two which makes each one seem to take forever to get to the expected end point. The only kind of enjoyable enough to even be memorable was with Calvin Morie McCarthy as a crackhead dealing with the Spirit Halloween monster as it was energetic enough to at least be entertaining.
Interesting premise and an original take on an anthology. The segments are broken up into case files of patients in a psychiatric ward as the hospital director is telling the patients stories to a new hire. All the stories were pretty good and each one different enough to hold interest. Each patient story shares in common the boogeyman creature which ties them all together and pays off later. The monster design was cool and looked professional. The lighting and camera angles were done well and kept it interesting visually. Overall, I enjoyed this anthology and the creativity behind it.
Beware me trying to give a damn after 20 mins. in. Honestly did not give it a fair chance, just more of the same. Anyways....off to watch the sequel 😀
Anthology horror with a similar premise to the far superior Asylum. There are 5 separate stories but they are all fairly generic and in my memory have become indistinguishable. There are some effective shots and the creature itself is pretty decent (apart from the joke shop big rubber hands).
Fell for the same thing I do every Halloween and bought a horror at asda for £6 even though i knew it would be no good, Needs more boogeyman and is over long and really boring 1/5
