Synopsis
Make every frame count.
Oscar, a nine-year-old boy who is unable to speak, struggles to adapt in the small fishing town he has just moved to with his widowed, hard-working mother Evelyn. Because of a broken film format camera, an unlikely friendship develops between Oscar and kindly workshop owner Eric.

It's an indie film filled with a stacked cast that has wonderful acting from Beau Bridges, to Jorge Luis Pallo, Zeke Bridges, Jessica Parker Kennedy, to Scott Tovar, to Bruce Davison. Directed by Jay Silverman who has a vision on this film with pure passion and talent like no other, and shot by the talented DP Andrew Jeric who made this film filled with beautiful cinematography that captures the world and characters in a way that will dazzle the eyes!

A rewarding coming of age story about a rural fishing village in which a mute child obsessed with his dead father's film camera forges a relationship with an older shop-owner who teaches him how to shoot and develop photographs. I thought this was going to be unbearably sweet and sentimental, and while it does approach the line in places, we remain invested in the simple story thanks to charming performances from Beau Bridges as Eric and Miguel Matrai as Oscar. Surprisingly, in an age when the art of film processing is becoming somewhat arcane, most of the details here are pretty accurate... it brought back fond memories of the late '60's when I'd be up all night in my darkroom, trying to work quietly so as not to wake my parents.
Really good coming of age story about a little boy with no voice in the world, connecting with an old shop keeper and building a friendship and his exploring his love of photography. this was heartwarming as fuck.

how many griefs can a young heart hold? how many ways can we tell stories that are beyond language?
an earnest & sorrowful movie with an expressive young actor who is so enjoyable to watch on screen!!
Saw some really bad reviews about this film and I knew I had to check it out and I don't regret the one hour I was glued to my screen watching how Oscar traversed this new town and how he met his Buddy.
One thing I learned is sometimes silence reveals a lot more than we expect.

Every Frame Counts
Bravo Miguel, truly special what you were able to convey while only using facial expression and posture. I couldnโt help to feel connected to Oscar and Ericโs relationship and outside of those two I canโt say I really cared for any of our supporting characters. A film spearheaded by two wonderfully powerful performances that had me filled with emotion. I especially felt most inclined during the third act were our leads shined brightest. Although I canโt say I loved how the film ended especially considering that I enjoyed the final act until that point. I wasnโt completely consistent on the shot selection and imagery, nonetheless sprinkled in were some beautiful shots of a scenic island setting. Itโs not all the time that you see a project containing a good veteran actor with one of our great young up incoming performers!
