Soooo this is a Chinese civil war movie about the 1935 battles between the CCP and KMT. Setting the elephant-in-the-room obvious critiques aside what the hell happened here? The pacing was crazy, zero exposition was provided beyond tacky on-screen notes, the entire cast was too busy aura farming to care about acting, and the random tiktok edit transition in the middle actually made me lose my shit. Let's just say if I were in the film censorship committee I'd deny a release for this movie solely because it's fucking embarrassing. Dawg look at the state of cinema
The only reason I stay at this movie was because to learn about cinema and its aspects, I need to not only know why something works but also know why something does not work. Every second of this movie falls into that second statement.
this film is so Chinese in the way that everyone’s miserable and sad but at the same time we are all still one big beautiful family
