Early Warning (1981) (original) (raw)

Early Warning

Synopsis

A Christian woman wants a newspaper man to publish a story about a One World Foundation being set up whose only goal is to control the world. She wants him to warn people that this is coming and explain how it ties into the end times spoken about in the Bible. The newsman is opposed to such an idea until he sees the woman being pursued by the Foundation. As this adventure unfolds, the newspaper man begins to realize that what the woman is saying could be true. This evangelistic, classic end times film presents the truth about Jesus Christ and has interesting insight into what might be coming in the last days.

Even well before the likes of Left Behind, atrocious "end-times" Christian propaganda still very much existed. This one just so happened to be directed by one of the future sound engineers for Cujo, yet that (along with a bizarre technophobic slant to the plot at hand) is all which makes it notable among other cheaply-made schlock of this kind.

Joachim Andersson

Lame christian propaganda about a couple on the run from the new world order corporation because they know their secret (she is from a bible study group and he is a journalist). Yes, they will force everyone to get tattoos and install a one world government. Just like the bible said. And their leader has an invisible 666 tattoo. Too bad the movie is dull as hell with most of the running time relegated to some sort of ”funny” and ”witty” banter between the two. It’s really forced and they have no charisma whatsoever. It does end nicely downbeat though and there is a tobacco-spitting cameo from George ”Buck” Flower so it’s not all bad.

If I wasn’t so determined to finish every film I start, I would have given up on this within the first ten minutes.

Let me start this off by saying that I’m not here to shit on religion. I think everyone is entitled to their own beliefs, so long as they don’t try to force them onto others and treat others poorly because of their difference of opinions. That being said, it would be impossible to discuss Early Warning without acknowledging exactly what this is, and that is a blatant piece of Christian propaganda. Early Warning does everything in its power to make the audience fear this impending doom and gloom of God and the end of times or whatever.…

Here is something out of the ordinary for me, but I am glad for a breath of fresh (or in this case, different) air once in awhile. I will admit that it was a review from a mutual (Jason Coffman) which informed me that this even existed; I won't talk about my religious beliefs here as I know that would only lead to trouble, but Christian films aren't ones I usually seek out. As he gave it a decent review and from the trailer I saw online and the plot description, when I found it being sold for super cheap by a private seller on Amazon, I took the chance and got it. It's only an average film but I…

Definitely slicker than many of the Christian Scare Films that deal with the rise of the Antichrist and the Rapture, but it's not as batshit crazy either and that's a bad thing. Framing the whole story as a conspiracy tale with romantic comedy leads is a bad idea. The "playful, flirty" banter is painful and forced, but at least the lighter tone and a bizarre scene at a survivalist camp helps set this apart from the THIEF IN THE NIGHT and LEFT BEHIND films.

Jason Coffman

"Early Warning" is a fun low-budget Christian "end times" movie that plays sort of like a less ambitious lead-up to the classic "Thief in the Night" films. Jenny, a Christian working with a group investigating a charitable organization called the One World Foundation, approaches jaded newspaper reporter Sam Jensen and asks him to help her expose the OWF's sinister intentions. Unlike modern films in this genre, "Early Warning" never gets too preachy or bogged down with lengthy scenes of characters talking about the bible and stuff, instead keeping the action moving forward and leaning on a pair of surprisingly good lead performances to get the audience on its protagonists' side. The ending is surprisingly downbeat, too, which immediately sets it apart from the "end times" films of the 2000s to the present. Worth a look for fans of 70s and 80s low-budget action/adventure, and the cameo appearance by exploitation legend George "Buck" Flower only sweetens the deal.

It's 2023 now and we actually have video footage of globalists reciting almost word for word what this movie predicted back in '81. Just wondering if the previous commenters have changed their tunes yet? :D

Seriously, come on people! Do you actually have to be burning in hell before you pause and reflect on the possibility that you were mistaken?

To one of the previous commenters: Indeed, the fact that your vote holds as much weight as ours is absurd. And no one wants to see your snatch that's been through more than a urinal at a truck stop.

I highly recommend buying the DVDs of old dead people. They teach me a lot about how the world is about to be taken over in the next few years by a One World Order.

Wait... this movie is over 40 years old?... Maybe in 40 more years it'll happen? Or 40 years after that?... Well, as long as they keep making movies, I won't forget, so that's good.

Super ultra low budget Christian movie with terrible acting and a soundtrack that doesn’t fit the film. I kept getting scooby doo vibes. It’s not a great film but has in it a great theme and idea and gives you food for thought, I guess that’s the general idea.

It never gets too preachy but keeps the action moving forward. It’s worth a watch but don’t expect too much. But do keep in mind this film came out in 1981.

Could it be a warning on the WEF and such lot. Has we definitely seem to be edging towards a digital cashless society and I’m sure it won’t be long before they try chipping us could it be mark of the beast. 🤷‍♂️

Nevertheless it’s an interesting film.
