"I remember one recent cab ride that turned into a real trip."
Two things that will always be weird to me: 1) Watching my favorite softcore sexploitation actresses, who I'm used to seeing rub and roll around with guys wearing pants, go fully hardcore, and 2) Everything about Robert Kerman's career. The former is Jennifer Welles, the focus of this erotic faux-biopic, taking us through the vignette memories of a girl who wants it, and can have it, anywhere, and anyplace. The latter pops up as a porno projectionist who is serviced by Ms. Welles, to the consternation of the raincoat crowd when he's too distracted to change over the reel.
Maybe I'm still not fully Porno Woke, but it…
Inside Jennifer Welles is one of those golden-age curiosities that manages to be both steamy and surprisingly thoughtful, blending sensuality with a kind of running internal commentary that gives the whole film a unique charm. The scenes are undeniably hot for their time. What really sets it apart is how Jennifer Welles narrates her own experiences, adding humor, introspection, and personality even in the middle of the steamy moments. It turns what could have been a straightforward adult feature into something more playful, intimate, and oddly engaging. And honestly, Jennifer Welles herself was an absolute fox, carrying the entire film with charisma, confidence, and a presence that still stands out decades later.
The real star of “Inside Jennifer Welles” was her personal shag carpet. It looked like the rug in the basement of the house I lived in when I was five.
While it's a bit long at 108 minutes and periodically burdened by that unwelcome Joe Sarno humor (the last segment - cough), it's easy to see why this was a smash. Gotta say, though, that the actions of Robert Kerman's projectionist character were in serious violation of Local 306 regulations.
Quality X Blu-ray (USA)
641: About as good a showcase as you could ask for as Jennifer Welles recounts past dalliances while on her way to one last bang before ending her adult career. I believe she stuck to her guns and this actually was her last adult film. There’s not much here as far as narrative, and it never gets personal like Annie Sprinkles “Deep Inside” film does, but it accomplishes what it needs to and the variety of the vignettes keep it fresh. If you're a fan of Welles, I can’t imagine a better film to go out with.
Jennifer Welles takes us down memory lane as she recounts some of her wildest sexual encounters.
INSIDE JENNIFER WELLES isn't the greatest "Inside" film ever made but it's certainly a good one and if you're a fan of Welles then you should be kept entertained, although the 108-minute running time is a bit too long. Having said that, you're going to get Welles in countless vignettes as she does just about everything you could imagine.
The highlight of the film, for me at least, was the sequence with Robert Kerman where he's playing a projectionist who is showing one of Welles movies and he decides to "help himself" before the real woman shows up. The film is also remembered for the final gang bang, which might shock some fans of Welles but I guess she was just showing off for the camera.
An essential blu-ray to own for the short film, Box Ball. Your life will never be the same after watching it.
Even though Welles had a relatively short hardcore career (she was mostly in softcore/sexplo fare up until the mid-70s), this 108 minute showcase gives her so many scenes it's practically career spanning on its own. The NYC b-roll cutaways while Welles is chauffeured around town is a pretty great spiritual sequel to Welles walking around NYC in Career Bed ten years prior.
"On a cold winter's evening Jennifer Welles fulfilled her greatest desire and fantasy by being the sole female at a party where she engaged in sexual intercourse with seventy-three men.
All the scenes in this film are true and accurate representations of my actual experiences. Jennifer Welles."
A Sarno directed showcase of his star Jennifer Welles going full hardcore. Not bad as she is lovely and just has a sexy presence no matter what she is in. Not much of a story, just wall to wall sex, but the sex scenes are mostly good. You aren't going to learn much about her except she is very horny and loves sex. Outside of Jennifer Welles however, not much to point out as good but it is after all Inside Jennifer Welles so that checks out.
As far as these sorts of spotlight films go, this one is maybe the most solid. Beyond just the strength of Welles herself, this offers some kind of throughline that you can follow, and tries to inject some humor and uniqueness to its scenes rather than the arbitrary randomness most of these end up being.
The half star is added cause I like Jennifer Welles.
From Career Bed to Inside Jennifer Welles...always fun to spend some time with one of sexploitations royalty.
