The Magic Snowflake (2013) (original) (raw)

At Christmastime (and even sometimes not at Christmas) I like to peruse Netflix's "holiday favorites" selection to try to find some new (to me) or noteworthy Christmas jam. This usually results in me watching a bunch of shitty animated Christmas movies.

Usually these are terrible, cheap looking CG animation with unattractive character models. The one thing I can say for sure about this movie and its predecessor, Santa's Apprentice, is that at least it is really nice looking traditional animation that looks like someone spent some money on it.

The story is fine, unoffensive, really (except I'm not sure why the Inuit mom had to have magic powers). I don't agree with its take on the Santa mythos, but that is almost ubiquitous to my Christmas movie watching experience.

There are worse things (MUCH worse things) you could watch browsing around Netflix this Christmas season.
