NYU Special Collections is open for in-person research appointments. To schedule an appointment, please ensure you have an active Special Collections Research Account (SCRA).

Appointment slots do book quickly, so please schedule as far in advance as possible.

For NYU Cardholders:

Appointments must be scheduled at least three business days in advance at all times. Appointments are scheduled via your Special Collections Research Account when you submit your research requests.

For External Researchers (Without an Active NYU ID Card):

All non-NYU researchers must follow the instructions for researchers to request access to library buildings and services. Appointments must be scheduled at least three business days in advance. We cannot accommodate walk-in visitors.

Guest WiFi

NYU offers guest wifi access for non-NYU affiliated researchers. Staff members at the desk can provide you with registration details.

Handling of Materials

You must follow staff instructions on handling the collection material at all times. Some regular rules to keep in mind:

Failure to adhere to these regulations or any other direction by reading room staff may result in loss of access to NYU Special Collections.

These guidelines keep NYU Special Collections in pristine condition. Thank you in advance for your understanding regarding these policies.

Special Collections Galleries

When the renovation is complete the Special Collections Center will have two self-contained exhibition galleries and a large reception area that will double as gallery space.

All three spaces will feature rotating exhibitions of special collections content.Check back for updates!

Please Note: Due to our current staffing schedule we will be unable to accommodate any outgoing loans of collection materials at the present time.
