Living with Huntington’s Chorea: The Social Perspective (original) (raw)

Abstract

The psychosocial implications of Huntington’s chorea are extremely important and largely unexplored. With no readily available cure, the major task in the management of this disease is to improve the quality of care. The purpose of this chapter is to provide a greater understanding of the social consequences of Huntington’s chorea in the hope that this may highlight the unmet needs of the patient and his family. By so doing, efforts can then be concentrated on the particularly neglected areas in the management of this disorder.
