Summary
It was demonstrated in cats that the mechanism of endothrombolysis caused by streptokinase is decisive for the lysis of artifically induced intravascular clots. These experiments suggest that the state of plasminaemia is not significant for thrombolytic therapy and should be kept short in order to avoid severe disturbances of the clotting system. This can be achieved by a sufficient high priming dose of streptokinase which according to our experiences amounts to 750.000 E SK in man.
