A suggested method for a landslide summary (original) (raw)
Abstract
A Working Group of members of the International Geotechnical Societies' UNESCO Working Party on World Landslide Inventory has developed a Suggested Method for a Landslide Summary.
The Landslide Record summarizes the information provided by the Landsline Report. The annual compilation of the Landslide Records constitutes the Landslide Summary. National Landslide Summaries can be assembled annually to create a World Landslide Summary.
Several differences exist between the Report and the Record. In the Landslide Record descriptive details are omitted, the Country Code and Inventory Number are added, and the damage estimate is based on the per capita GDP for the country for that year At the National Centre a separate bibliographic database is compiled.
Once the landslide information network is established, an invaluable data source will be available at the local, national, and international level.
