One of my bigger pet peeves is kids that aren't taught to cover their mouth when they cough. Working retail and taking public transit, Lord only knows what sorts of virii I've contracted from them.
The other day, it hit me that now, more and more adults aren't covering their mouths either! This really annoys me. I had some woman on my bus the other day hacking and wheezing and not covering her mouth! The driver actually asked her "Are you gonna survive?" She told him that she thought she had one of the viruses that was going around. I probably got something from her. And people wonder why it is that I always sound sick.
Another thing that pisses me off is seriously ill people that insist on going out. The other day, I had this customer with a nasty cough. She told me that she'd been sick and that she still had a bit of a THROAT INFECTION! To me, "infection" meand "Stay home and recuperate", not "Go out and buy things." Stupid frickin' people. I think that every retail worker should get a flu shot every year.
I'm starting to understand why it is that I see people wearing surgical masks out in public more and more.
I remember when I was a kid, my mother always telling me to cover my mouth when I sneezed or coughed. Has this gone by the wayside? Let's hear it for modern society falling to bits around our ears [sarcasm] woo [/sarcasm]
