Michael [1] is a senior researcher at JOANNEUM RESEARCH, an applied research company in Austria. He is working in the area of multimedia semantics utilising Web of Data technologies in a couple of national and international (EU) projects.

Within W3C, Michael has been active in the Multimedia Semantics Incubator Group (2006/2007) where he has been mainly responsible for the 'Multimedia Vocabularies on the Semantic Web' XGR [2] and he has also been active in the Semantic Web Deployment Working Group and the RDFa Task Force (since 2006) where he amongst others contributed to the RDFa Use Cases [3], Test Cases [4] as well as the Implementation Report [5]. Michael proposed ramm.x [6] (RDFa-deployed Multimedia Metadata), with contributions from Raphael and other former MMSEM-XG members.

Regarding linked data [7], Michael has contributed to the community project by publishing a dataset (Eurostat statistical data [8]), working on discovery issues (voiD [9]), proposing "User Contributed Interlinking" [10] and addressing issues with multimedia interlinking [11]. Currently, Michael is finalising his PhD - having his viva voce on 26. Sep 2008 ;)

Michael also likes to hack, that is to actually try out stuff in real-world environments rather than addressing only the theoretical side. He recently toyed around with ubiquity [12], a Firefox plug-in allowing to develop in-place interactions with any kind of Web content (Web 2.0 and RDF-based alike).

Ah, and finally, as a tribute to the Web of Data, a final RDF triple that says it all ;)
