12:20PM - LJSanta is on!
(This is cross-posted to several LJS communities. Apologies to those of you seeing it multiple times.)
LJSanta was on last year, but on a slightly altered schedule, so some people missed it. This year, though, it's on in December. For those of you unfamiliar to the project, you sign up to write a Secret Santa fanfic (read: don't tell anyone what you're writing!) for a fellow LJS fan. In return, someone else writes a fic for you. Everyone wins! (Personally speaking, some of my favourite LJS fanfics have been written for LJSanta.)
Note: This is for the books ONLY. We are including the ghostwritten VD and SC books, since they use the same characters and operate within the same world, but the TVD show and TSC show are not allowed.
For more information, to read previous LJSanta stories, and/or to sign up, please visit lj-smith.com/ljsanta/. Sign-ups end on November 25. Please be sure to consider the deadlines and requirements before you sign up.

12:46AM - The Night World RPG
The Night World only has two rules:1. Never allow a human to gain knowledge of the Night World's existence.2. Never fall in love with a human. The rules are being broken. Human are being brought into the Night World over and over at an increasingly dangerous rate. Many in the Night World want to continue to keep their world and lives closed off from humans, but some inhabits of the Night World are finding soulmates and allies in the humans they are told to hate and look down upon.As the two worlds collide, the dynamics all around both Night World inhabits and humans are changing. Humans are shocked to find out that such things as vampires, witches, and shape shifters exist and find it hard to believe right away. But you cannot deny the truth that is standing right in front of you.Where do you belong?_______The Night World RPG is Strange Fate non-compliant and will not change when the book is published. The primary goal and game play of the Night World RPG is to focus on the races of the Night World, how the inhabits of the Night World interact with humans, and the Soulmate Principle.People who have never read the series and know nothing about it is welcome as long as they read the information provided for them. 12:13PM - LJSanta is back!
First off, apologies to those of you who are subscribed to many LJS-based LJ communities. You'll be seeing this post a lot today.
But it's for a good cause, because LJSanta, the Secret Santa project for the LJS fandom, is back! I missed it during its hiatus, and I know I'm not alone. LJSanta has resulted in some of the best fanfic in this fandom, in my opinion, and it's always been a fun ride.
The timeline is slightly different than in past years, so even if you've participated before, read the rules again. Sign-ups end on December 5, so hurry and join in on the fun!
For more information or to check out the fanfic from previous years, go to the LJSanta site: www.lj-smith.com/ljsanta/

2:20AM - Vampire-Diaries.net contest: write a caption, win a Vampire Diaries Comic Con bag!
We found ourselves on the receiving end of some amazing fandom love and generosity and we think it’s only right to pass on the good karma. We know a lot of you were unable to make it to San Diego for Comic Con and have been envying some the Vampire Diaries goodies featured at the Warner Bros. booth. Well, here’s your chance to score some of that sweet schwag – we’re having our very first contest!
The Prizes:
- TWO big winners will each receive a Vampire Diaries Comic Con bag
- THREE runners-up will each receive a Vampire Diaries poster and button
Here are some (not-so-great) snapshots of the limited edition bags, the button (bit blurry, but you get the idea of the size), and the poster.
HEAD ON OVER TO VAMPIRE-DIARIES.NET TO FIND OUT MORE AND ENTER...
Also, feel free to spread the word on other communities and forums - just point them to the post on the website. :)

11:41AM - Hi! New. Kinda...
Hey all, I don't know how many people are still following this community but I actually just found myself falling back in love with all of LJS' work recently so I thought I'd join a few comms and see what this generation of followers are like, lol. I fell in love with her books when I was about 13 or so. And I'm...28 now. Which makes me feel strangely old. Either way, I used to follow her religiously, joining online sites like Circle Daybreak, writing tons and tons of fanfic. I actually noticed that I'm still up on TTales and other fanfic sites which was such a shock to me, my God. I used to write under the name of Aeslinn years ago and I still have warm feelings about all those people I met almost 15 years ago!
Anyways, I know this is getting long winded but I just wanted to introduce myself and say hi and also say that I'm very excited to be falling in love with her books all over again and meeting people who also share that love. :)
Current mood: ecstatic

1:23AM - Do you dare play a game? Calling all roleplayers.
I'm the recruiter for the newest addition to the collection of the various L.J. Smith roleplaying games; Spellbinder 2.0. I'm not sure of whether or not you've played any of LJS's roleplaying games prior, but most of the ones I'd seen throughout the years have been forum-based or email-based - which really is not too much fun as it takes so much time. Ours, on the other hand, is chat-based, all the sessions will take place on AIM, disregarding the one-on-one private sessions you may want to have. Anything is possible, and any character can be chosen given they are not already taken. The game will be joining all of LJS's books, and the story is written by *you*. Friendships are made, stories are developed, plot-twists occur. Spellbinder 2.0 is escapism to the maximum.
There is a lot more I can add, but I feel you would understand much better if you would simply join. If you have any questions, feel more than welcome to email me at desiresunveiled@ymail.com. And of course, for those of you who are bolder, you can directly join through our website: http://joylandpark.net/spellbinder. You will thereafter be contacted by either Rose, the co-owner and Webmistress, or myself regarding an audition. Never roleplayed before? That's quite alright, as well, we'll teach you how it is done. Do you have what it takes? Are you *truly* a dedicated fan?
Regards,
Rebecca

10:42AM
I was reading LJ Smith's Myspace bulletin where she answers questions and I was wondering if anyone knows what she's talking about when she says this (in relation to The Vampire Diaries pilot and watching the dailies):
"(because I’ve been through this before, for example with Secret Circle, where everything was going well until it just fell apart for some reason unknown to me)"

9:49PM
This falls under "I can't believe I'm doing this", but I've made some icons using recent pictures posted on Vampire-Diaries.net. I blame my inner fangirl - she made me do it.
I'm possibly getting ahead of myself here, given that the show has only just been annouced, but what the hell.
Enjoy.
Fake cut to DOOM – or, you know, icons
Please tell me if I'm getting this credit thing wrong. I wish to give credit to all the right people.
