DAAD PRIME Fellow, 2023-25, LMU / UCD
I’m an ancient Roman historian with interests in the cultural, social, and political history of Rome, especially in the imperial period.
Currently I’m pursuing two connected projects. The first (with Routledge) is a monograph provisionally entitled “The Emperor Pertinax”, based on my doctoral research. The second project, funded 2023-25 by a DAAD PRIME Fellowship at LMU in Munich and UCD, concerns the changing political culture of the Antonine period, and the application of theories of political culture to ancient history more generally.
I'm currently a DAAD PRIME Fellow, based in Munich and Dublin with LMU and UCD, from 2023-25. In 2022-3, I was a temporary lecturer at the University of Tübingen, where I was a Teach@Tübingen Fellow in 2021-2 and a DAAD scholarship holder in 2021. I completed my PhD in Classics at the University of Edinburgh (2019), and hold an MA and BA (Hons) from the University of Tasmania, in Australia.
I welcome enquiries about my articles or research projects, and I’m always happy to discuss or debate ideas or projects!
