This article presents a thought-provoking perspective on the dynamic between entertainment and sport. It delves into the intriguing concept of "Entertainment versus Sport" rather than "Sport as Entertainment." Definitely worth a read! Link to the article: https://lnkd.in/dnGxVPgp

So let the games begin... 🏅 The Olympics is well underway, and some world-leading heavyweight brands have invested significantly to become the 'official partner of' this media-dominating event. With inspiring 'all things are possible' advertising flooding our screens, it raises the question: when the race is run, who will stand the test of time in the consumer's memory? 🤔 #Olympics #Branding #Advertising #ConsumerMemory 🌟

Liberty Media strikes again! 🏎️Formula 1 has officially announced the release of its highly anticipated major motion picture - creatively titled “F1”. While the premiere is still 12 months away, the movie serves as a vehicle for the #sport to further promote itself to a mass audience through the most powerful, persuasive and engaging tool there is: #media. Since acquiring F1 in 2017, Liberty Media have since implemented bold growth strategies anchored around media, such as the acclaimed Drive to Survive Netflix series- arguably the catalyst for the sports docuseries trend - and extensive media promotion of newly added US races to engage new fans, as the US remains a key expansion market. The result? The world’s fastest growing sport in social media following, a 32-year old average fanbase age and a doubling of F1 valuation from US$8Bn to $16Bn in 7 years. There’s speculation as to whether this new movie will be a hit or miss. My take? A hit. This movie will convert even more non-fans to casual fans, and prove to be another successful cog in the growth machine run by F1 and Liberty Media. Media is a vehicle for fan engagement and growth in sport, and #F1 is the perfect case study. Do you think the release of this movie be yet another masterstroke for Formula 1? Share your thoughts below! 🍿 #sportsbusiness
